Chapter 124, Section 21: Closing the Net
After a sudden stop and a burst of acceleration, Johnny turned the steering wheel fully, and the old Ford spun its tail as it glided across the triangular dock.
As he ran wildly through the maze of abandoned shipping containers in the port, a purple afterimage suddenly flashed before his eyes.
There it is!
With a 360-degree drift turn, the old Ford came to a steady stop in front of him, splattering mud onto his purple coat.
The clown stood in the shadow of the two rows of shipping containers.
A slightly salty sea breeze swept over him, ruffling his greasy, curly, dark green hair before seeping in through the collar and filling his entire coat.
"Hey kid, you should be glad I'm not one of those aesthetes like Joseph."
The clown licked the mud from the corner of his mouth and stared at Johnny with his head down. His eerie face was completely hidden in darkness, with only his eyes reflecting the light, reminiscent of Pennywise from the sewers in "It".
I'm so sorry—
Johnny rolled down the car window; he looked somewhat nervous, his eyes darting around.
However, he always looked like this when he saw the Joker, so he didn't really give himself away.
"Don't be nervous, Johnny. Remember—never try to apologize to anyone!"
Stepping out of the shadows, the clown's sinister grin appeared before Johnny's face without warning. He then yanked open the car door, jumped into the back seat, and propped his legs up on the back of the driver's seat.
Johnny started the car as usual, and the Joker let out a chilling laugh behind him:
"Johnny, Johnny, Johnny! Why didn't you ask us where we were going before you started the car?"
Where are we going?
Johnny grew increasingly uneasy; the clown exuded a dangerous aura today.
He glanced nervously at the rearview mirror, but couldn't find the other person in the back seat.
Just as he was about to turn around to check, a pair of scarred, rough hands, as smooth as sandpaper, reached around the back of the chair and covered his mouth.
"Johnny, Johnny! I want to take you to see Flint. I bet you miss her terribly!"
"Are you in position?"
"We've set up the ambush."
Are there any blind spots?
"I'm bringing Barrett this time. If you tell me his location, I can see right through concrete. But only if he comes through the front door."
"The back door and windows are locked. Once the clown dares to step into this house, he won't be able to escape."
"Your cautious employer saves me a lot of trouble."
Floyd hung up the phone and set up his sniper rifle. Through the scope, he saw his employer playing Spider Solitaire on the table. Qin Wei's hands moved incredibly fast, drawing cards one by one from the deck and placing them in place almost without a second thought.
He quickly finished the game, shuffled the cards twice, and started a new game.
Freud had never seen anyone play with a spider so quickly, and he was so engrossed in watching that he was not awakened until a sudden stop was heard downstairs, and the old Ford drove onto the sidewalk and crashed into a trash can.
Turning the gun around, I could see through the scope a guy in a purple coat jumping out of the car. Judging from the color of his neck, he was probably the pale-faced guy the employer wanted to kill. The other guy was probably the one the employer said he wanted to protect.
The two went upstairs one after the other.
Because he couldn't see the other person's face, Floyd couldn't fire the gun. He could only monitor the other person's every move through the corridor window and report to Qin Wei inside the house via cell phone.
"They're on the stairs, I can't see them clearly."
"We've gone up to the second floor."
"It stopped at your door."
"Wait! What's that pale-faced guy doing? He looks like he's loading bullets. Should I take action now?"
"No rush, wait until he raises his gun before you make your move."
Qin Wei remained calm, his gaze falling on the two Joker cards he had pulled from the deck and tossed onto the corner of the table.
Spider Solitaire is an interesting pastime, but its only drawback is that it doesn't need the Joker, those two useless cards.
With a rusty scraping sound, the gap in the door gradually widened, and the clown's figure was slowly revealed to the audience like a mouse stuck to a curtain. He tilted his head and sneered, exposing the torn wound on his cheek.
Qin Wei tightened his grip on his pistol and aimed at the clown's head the instant the other man raised his gun.
Just as he was about to pull the trigger, his eyes inadvertently caught sight of Johnny hiding behind the Joker.
Damn it, why is Johnny smirking too!
In a split second, Qin Wei made a judgment.
"The ones behind!"
As the message was relayed, Floyd pulled the trigger, and the 12.7mm machine gun bullet easily penetrated the concrete wall, blasting "Johnny" to pieces from the elbow down.
"Hehehehehehe————Haha ...
The Joker remained in the same pose, holding a gun with a chilling, sinister smile on his face. But the laughter didn't come from his mouth; it came from Johnny.
Qin Wei strode forward with his gun, smashed Johnny's other hand, grabbed his hair, and ripped off his human skin mask.
Beneath the mask lay the face of a clown wolf-fox, soaked in cold sweat.
"If...if my acting were better...if I could hold back my laughter, could I have fooled you? Could I have just watched you kill him? Answer me—answer me now!"
Qin Wei ripped off his tie and tied it around the clown's severed limb: "No, unless you dare stand in front of him."
What supported his judgment wasn't Johnny's unusual smile, but rather the way the two were positioned. Even his only contact didn't know his address or contact information. Would such a cautious Joker really place himself in front of his underlings when meeting a stranger?
After a brief moment of shock, the clown's expression became more complex, and he forced a broken smile at Qin Wei through trembling lips.
"Kid, no wonder Joseph said you were a tough opponent, heh!"
"Did he tell you that I'm a cruel opponent who treats human life like dirt?" Qin Wei asked expressionlessly, grabbing the clown's scalp and pulling him downstairs.
He was actually more worried about Johnny's condition. He had just glanced at Johnny dressed as the clown, whose mouth had been cruelly cut open and whose expression was clearly abnormal. But the most important thing to do right now was to interrogate Johnny to find out the whereabouts of his daughter.
The Joker in the movie is very stubborn, but Qin Wei firmly believes that it's because Batman couldn't inflict more cruel punishment on him.
"Hey kid, I'd love to know what you're going to do to get me to talk!" The clown's scalp was ripped open, and blood streamed down his face from the lacerations, but he didn't seem afraid. He stuck out his tongue to wipe the blood from the corner of his mouth.
"Experiencing pain will make people cry out and feel fear; this is human instinct. Some people have a very high threshold for fear and pain, and you have to use some unconventional methods to get them to talk."
Qin Wei's tone was unusually cold. He knew he absolutely could not be affected by the clown's nonsense, even though he was so upset that he was almost depressed. He remembered that there was a rope behind Old Ford, and he was prepared to give the clown a little shock.
But when he opened the trunk and saw what was inside, his already chaotic mind completely exploded.
