Chapter 162, Section 59: Claws vs. Bats (Part Two)
The night wind tore through layers of cumulus clouds, and the pale, almost dazzling moonlight fell onto the edge of the cliff.
Qin Wei held the gun, his knees sinking into the swaying thrush grass, while opposite him, a menacing figure with sharp claws crossed his sleeve blades, sparks flying.
This scene reminded Wei of his battle with Genichiro Ashina in the reeds many years ago, except this time it wasn't a game world.
It is a very real reality.
Qin Wei could feel his hands were soaked with sweat. The biting wind brushed against the tips of the grass and brushed against the back of his hands, taking away some of his body heat.
Having learned his lesson from last time, William corrected his habit of talking nonsense. He lowered his center of gravity by touching the ground with his toes, and after a brief gathering of strength, he opened the battle with a forward lunge.
Because he was wary of Qin Wei's rifle, William didn't choose a straight attack, instead constantly shifting his weight from left to right. He was indeed much more cautious.
Although he suspected that Qin Wei had already run out of bullets, William, who had the ability to heal himself, was unwilling to take another gamble.
This careful choice saved his life.
Qin Wei did indeed have a magazine of bullets hidden in his gun, a magazine of dumdum bullets that could shatter his skull.
But these bullets are gradually losing their effectiveness as the distance between the two people decreases.
The phrase "within seven paces, the spear is both accurate and fast" doesn't quite apply to an assassin whose movements are elusive and unpredictable.
William Cobb was incredibly fast.
He was just 30 feet away a moment ago, but in the blink of an eye, he was already in front of me.
As the hidden blade rose and then fell, the moonlight reflected from the blade suddenly plummeted, transforming into lightning that cleaved through the chaos.
What a fast sword!
Qin Wei's sixth sense told him that at such acceleration, the metal barrel of the rifle would be difficult to block. In an instant, he changed his strategy and jumped back like a wolf-fox the moment the lightning struck.
The blade grazed the tip of his nose, tracing a shimmering arc in the moonlight.
Through this move, Qin Wei gained a clearer understanding of William's strength. He was inferior to Deathstroke. In his prime, Qin Wei might have been able to barely contend with him, but now he certainly couldn't defeat him.
This must be the super strong claw that Dick was talking about.
The thought that Dick and Jason had actually managed to force back such a strong guy made Qin Wei look at them with new respect.
Of course, these were just fleeting thoughts in his mind; the claws' offensive was far from over.
William Cobb seemed to have his own accelerated timeline. Before Qin Wei even landed, he had already completed the three actions of finishing his move, turning around, and slashing again. The blade drew a bright "Z" in the air before slicing down towards the latter's throat.
William was absolutely confident that his strike would be enough to cut through the barrel of Qin Wei's rifle, but what he didn't understand was that the other party should at least put up some resistance.
Instead of withdrawing the gun barrel as we are now, leaving our chests and throats exposed to the blade.
Unless William glanced down at his feet.
A high-explosive grenade was faintly visible in the swaying grass.
"As expected! You damned throwing goblin—"
boom!
Before he could finish speaking, William was blown away by the blast wave.
Long before the moon rose above the clouds, Qin Wei had already set up a trap under the cover of darkness, pulled out the pin, and stepped on the shrapnel of the grenade with his right foot.
No matter how fast William is, those two short hidden blades are only suitable for close combat. Once he tries to close the distance, Qin Wei can guess what he will do next.
Never reveal your intentions to bats.
Of course, being hit by a full-explosive grenade at close range was not easy for Qin Wei, even though he was fully armed. He was thrown more than ten meters by the powerful recoil, his bulletproof armor was riddled with shrapnel, and his bare hands were covered in blood from the explosion.
But this is still much better than William, who has a bloody hole in his chest. More importantly, the distance between the two has been widened again.
After a backward roll to dissipate the force, Qin Wei dragged his battered body and raised his gun to fire a few shots.
Chu Chu Chu!
Two bullets missed, and one bullet shattered William's left hand.
His marksmanship was really terrible; he had originally aimed that burst at his opponent's head.
The good news is that I knocked one of my opponent's hidden blades away, and the disarming progress is 50%.
William's face was extremely grim. He had previously attributed his defeat to underestimating his opponent, but now he realized that even when he was on high alert, he would still fall into their trap. It seemed that his opponent had a four-dimensional pocket. Last time it was liquid nitrogen, and this time it was a high-explosive grenade. He could never guess what surprise awaited him next.
But William was not one to give up easily; Qin Wei's insidious scheme only fueled his inner fighting spirit.
Despite his injuries, he rushed forward once again.
William was certain that a cunning and treacherous fellow would not repeat his old tricks. If he was afraid of the trap the other party had set and dared not close the distance, the situation would only become more and more passive.
As it turned out, William's gamble paid off. This time there were no traps or mechanisms; it was Qin Wei's wrist that stopped the blade.
This armor was the one Qin Wei wore when he robbed the gang's bank. The wrists, which were filled with thin steel plates wrapped in thick cowhide, were arguably the strongest defense on his body. The reason he had kept it hidden was because he was waiting for this moment.
When Claw focused intently on anticipating which direction he might dodge, he blocked the attack.
William instinctively thrust out his left-hand hidden blade, but it wasn't until his broken wrist collided with Qin Wei's wound that he remembered his hidden blade had already been knocked away.
Oops!
The next second, a fierce headbutt came flying towards him.
William decisively withdrew his hand to block, but Qin Wei's strength far exceeded his expectations.
He couldn't block that attack, and his entire nasal bone was smashed into his skull.
Blood blurred William's vision, but the seasoned assassin remained calm. He turned his head and, merely by listening to the wind of the punch, deflected the pursuing sneak attack.
William was terrified after barely managing to defend against a combo of groin kicks, eye-gouging fingers, and throat punches. Although these moves, which would be fatal to ordinary people, were ineffective against him, it was enough to show how ruthless his opponent was.
William thought to himself, "If I get beaten into submission, this guy will probably rip me open and pour gasoline on me."
He may not have realized that Qin Wei's methods had already made him consider retiring.
Wiping the blood from his face, Claw was about to raise his sword to fight again when another high-explosive grenade was thrown at him.
"Not again?! When will this end?!"
Not only do they have to be wary of their opponent's ever-changing trump cards, but they also have to defend themselves against fists and kicks, and even if they create distance, they will be targeted by grenades and bullets.
The battlefield was filled with too many distractions, and William's head was about to explode.
He dodged the grenade, and as expected, he was met with a three-round burst of rifle fire.
William the wolf-fox dodged, rolled to dissipate the force, and fell into the grass.
