Chapter 4: One Hammer Defeats Dai Mubai
Chapter 4: One Hammer Defeats Dai Mubai
The crimson pillar of light exploded with a deafening roar, transforming into countless showers of light that fell from the sky.
Ye Chen's figure reappeared.
Everyone held their breath.
His right arm had completely changed; the muscles bulged and the veins stood out.
His right hand made a grasping motion, and a miniature version of the Haotian Hammer materialized from the void, its head as black as ink and its handle engraved with complex runes.
His eyes changed from one purple and one pink to a deep blood red, and endless killing intent seemed to surge in his pupils.
A strong aura of savagery emanated from him, like a demon emerging from a mountain of corpses and a sea of blood, sending a chill down the spines of everyone present.
Tang San's pupils dilated.
He recognized that aura; it was the aura of his second martial soul.
"Dad..." Tang San murmured to himself, his voice filled with indescribable emotions.
Could it be that Dad is also an extremely powerful Soul Master?
Otherwise, why would Dad's cards be able to unleash such powerful energy!
Dai Mubai subconsciously took a step back.
It's not cowardice, it's a bodily instinct.
He had lived for twelve years and seen countless powerful figures, but he had never felt such an intense aura of danger emanating from any one person.
The little black hammer gave him the feeling that it could smash him into a meat patty at any moment.
"What...what kind of monster are you?" Dai Mubai's voice was a little dry.
Ye Chen remained silent.
His consciousness struggled amidst the killing intent of the Haotian Hammer, barely managing to remain conscious.
He knew he couldn't maintain this form for long, and might only have one chance to strike.
One strike is all it takes to end the battle.
Ye Chen moved.
It was only one step, yet it felt like shrinking the distance to an inch.
His figure appeared and disappeared in the black and gold light, his right hand holding the Haotian Hammer high, without any fancy techniques, just the simplest, most direct and violent smash.
"break!"
Dai Mubai's pupils contracted sharply as he exerted all his strength to activate his martial spirit.
"Third Soul Skill, White Tiger Vajra Transformation!"
"First Soul Skill: White Tiger Protective Barrier!"
His third spirit ring and first spirit ring shone brightly at the same time, and his body was covered with layers of white light, his defense reaching its peak.
He crossed his claws above his head, ready to take the blow head-on.
The Haotian Hammer fell.
There was no explosion, no loud noise, only a dull "click".
Dai Mubai's White Tiger Vajra Transformation was as fragile as paper, utterly vulnerable before the black and gold Clear Sky Hammer.
His arms were knocked away, leaving his chest wide open, and the phantom of the Haotian Hammer slammed solidly into his chest.
"puff--"
Dai Mubai spat out a mouthful of blood, and his whole body flew backward as if he had been hit by a train, smashing a coffee table in the lobby, and rolling several times on the ground before barely coming to a stop.
The state of his martial spirit possession was immediately dispelled at that moment.
With disheveled blond hair, torn clothes, and blood at the corner of his mouth, Dai Mubai knelt on the ground, his hands trembling uncontrollably.
He looked up, his heterochromatic eyes no longer showing the previous nonchalance, but only shock and... a trace of awe.
The entire room fell silent.
Tang San opened his mouth wide, but couldn't utter a single word.
Xiao Wu covered her mouth.
The waiter hid behind the counter, trembling with fear.
Ye Chen stood still, his right hand still in the swinging hammer posture.
The crimson light began to dissipate, the phantom of the Clear Sky Hammer turned into specks of light and scattered, and the dark gold patterns on his right arm gradually faded away.
Then, his body swayed.
Xiao Wu was the first to rush over, grabbing him and supporting him, tears streaming down her face: "You scared me to death! You scared me to death!"
Ye Chen leaned against her, his face as pale as paper, his forehead covered in cold sweat. He forced a smile: "It's nothing... I'm just a little tired..."
I'm not just a little tired, I'm practically drained.
His level 29 body carried Tang Hao's Clear Sky Hammer will, and even a single strike almost exhausted all of his soul power and mental strength.
If that blow hadn't ended the fight, he wouldn't even be able to stand.
Tang San walked over, looked at Ye Chen, and his eyes were complicated.
He wanted to say something, but in the end he said nothing. He simply reached out and patted Ye Chen on the shoulder.
"Good brother."
Ye Chen smiled and weakly gave a thumbs up.
Dai Mubai slowly stood up and wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth.
His shirt had a large hole in it, revealing the purplish-blue skin underneath. He had managed to deflect most of the force of the Haotian Hammer at the last moment; otherwise, that blow would have been enough to kill him.
He looked at Ye Chen, his heterochromatic eyes no longer showing hostility, but rather a hint of appreciation.
"I lost."
He spoke frankly, without resentment or anger, simply stating the facts.
"This room is yours."
He dusted himself off and turned to walk towards the hotel entrance.
As he reached the door, he stopped and turned to look at Ye Chen.
"You're very strong. My name is Dai Mubai, a student at Shrek Academy. You're probably here to apply too, right?"
Ye Chen nodded.
Dai Mubai smiled – this time it wasn't cynicism, but sincerity.
"Then we'll see you at Shrek."
He paused, then added:
"I won't lose next time."
After saying that, he turned and walked out of the hotel.
The lobby was silent for a few seconds, then Xiao Wu exploded.
"Ye Chen! Can you please not be so stubborn next time!" She cried as she punched his chest, not with much force, more like a spoiled child. "What will I do if something happens to you!"
Ye Chen coughed repeatedly from her punches, but he couldn't suppress the smile on his lips: "Okay, okay, I was wrong, I won't do it again next time."
"You want a next time?!" Xiao Wu glared at him.
"There will be no next time, there will be no next time."
Tang San watched the two bickering, his lips twitching slightly. He then turned to the waiter hiding behind the counter and said, "Excuse me, we'll take that room."
The waiter handed over the key, his hands trembling.
The three of them went upstairs and entered the luxurious king-size bed room.
The room was large, with a round bed in the center covered in rose petals. The lighting was dim, and the curtains were semi-transparent. The bathroom was separated by a glass partition...
Xiao Wu's face turned bright red, reaching her ears.
Tang San said expressionlessly, "I'll sleep on the sofa."
Ye Chen: "...The sofa is very small."
Tang San: "I'll sleep on the floor."
Xiao Wu whispered, "Xiao San, why don't you go out and open another room..."
Tang San: "The last one."
Xiao Wu: "..."
Ye Chen coughed lightly: "Well, Tang San, you sleep in the bed, Xiao Wu and I will sleep on the floor."
Tang San glanced at him, his eyes seeming to say: You think I would believe that?
In the end, Tang San still took the blanket and went to the corridor.
Before closing the door, he glanced back and saw that Xiao Wu had snuggled into Ye Chen's arms like a little rabbit. Ye Chen held her close, and the two of them lay down on the large bed covered with rose petals.
Tang San closed the door expressionlessly, sat down against the wall, and looked up at the ceiling of the corridor.
