Chapter 39: Communication Wristband
Chapter 39: Communication Wristband
It was a success...
Loila wiped the sweat from her forehead and let out a soft breath. She pursed her lips as she looked at the blue magic circle that covered her wrist like a spider web.
"It worked, didn't it?" Luna said, looking at the wristband. "It's like a star in the sky."
"Shall we give it a try?"
"Hmm...hmm." Loila nodded and put on a wristband.
On the jet-black wristband was a small, mirror-like crystal. Loila tapped it lightly with her wand and casually sketched a few words.
Then, characters slowly appeared on the wristband on Luna's hand.
"Hello there."
These are the words that Loila just wrote.
"Success...it's a success!" Loila exclaimed happily.
Luna nodded and picked up her wand, gently swiping it a few times on her wristband.
"Huh?" Loila looked at her wristband, which glowed slightly, and then a simple line drawing of a little person appeared.
"This is Loila," Luna explained. "Look... here's your beautiful silver hair... and here are your pointed ears..."
Miss Lovegood's drawing is so good... Loila subconsciously reached out and touched it. Although it was just a few strokes, Loila could clearly recognize that it was herself.
Then Luna drew another picture of herself, the two little figures holding hands and sitting under the starry sky.
"It's something from a book, do you remember it?" Luna blinked. "I've always missed that day."
"Lying on the grass and looking at the stars."
Her words reminded Loila of that day... Ah... she did miss it, but more so the place... the grasslands outside Nurmengard.
With the completion of the communication wristband, Loila resolved a major issue that had been brewing for the past few days.
As she wrote down the magic circle and some problems encountered during its creation in her notebook, a day had already passed.
As night fell, an owl flew in through the window and dropped a letter with a tug.
Startled, Loila waited for the owl to leave before carefully picking up the envelope.
It was a letter from Mr. Lupin… Loila knew that he seemed to have gone to see Dumbledore that morning, but she didn’t know why.
This is Mr. Lu Ping's first letter to himself!
Loila excitedly crumpled the letter, which she would put in a box and store away, just like Miss Lovegood's letter...
However, Miss Lovegood probably won't write to me anymore.
Loila glanced subconsciously at the wristband on the table, where her chat history with Luna was still preserved.
Miss Lovegood seems to be busy dealing with the harassment of Mang and investigating Minister Fudge's army of fire sprites...
Shaking her head, Loila carefully opened the letter in her hand. As the envelope was opened, more than a dozen Galleons scattered out.
What does this mean?
Loila paused for a moment. Had Mr. Lupin accidentally put it in there?
After carefully reading Mr. Lupin's letter, Loila finally understood the reason...
Mr. Lupin has to take care of something... and it seems he won't be back anytime soon, so he sent over this month's Galleons to avoid starving.
Mr. Lupin, you are truly great... But the thought that this must be another advance on her salary made Loila feel a little apprehensive.
How much of his salary had been advanced, especially since he was planning to go see Dumbledore... after all, the ingredients for the wolfsbane potion cost a lot of money...
Loila sighed softly, turning her thoughts back to the letter... She had just become closer to Mr. Lupin, and now he was about to leave.
Loila felt a pang of reluctance, and she also sensed from the letter that Lupin's mission might be somewhat unsafe... She hoped that Merlin would bless him with everything.
She pursed her lips, patted her face, put the letter away, and then picked up a quill to write a reply to Mr. Lupin.
Perhaps I should make another magic circle prop for Mr. Lupin to use for communication?
But writing letters seems nice too... It's something only friends do!
Thinking this, Loila pursed her lips happily, and the quill pen she was using to write the letter swayed even faster.
Oh, right, I also need to write a letter to Dumbledore... to ask him about the advance on my wages...
Ah... this doesn't mean I'm friends with Dumbledore. I'll take down that old man sooner or later...
Loila frowned instinctively and looked towards the door... Thankfully, there was no sudden knocking or that terrifying voice.
........................
"Bang bang bang".
A knock came at the door, and Dumbledore slightly raised his head to look at the door of the headmaster's office.
Then he smiled and said, "Please come in."
"Clatter".
The principal's office door opened, and a house-elf walked in first, followed by Loila, who looked timid and somewhat shy, wearing a hood.
Is this... the Headmaster's office at Hogwarts...? Loila carefully surveyed her surroundings, but when she looked up and saw the portraits that almost covered the entire ceiling of the Headmaster's office, she shuddered in fright.
Why are there so many people?!
"Good morning, Miss Hamilton." Dumbledore smiled gently and nodded to McGonagall. "Bibby, could you spare some time for Miss Hamilton and me?"
"As you wish, Headmaster." The house-elf named Bibi snapped her fingers and slowly disappeared from the headmaster's office.
"Ah..." Loila subconsciously took a few steps back as she watched the house-elf disappear.
"He is Bibi, a house-elf from Hogwarts," Dumbledore introduced.
Of course I know... otherwise why would I have followed him... but... Loila looked at Dumbledore and pursed her lips. She really wanted to tell Dumbledore not to let Bibi into her room so casually... She woke up in the morning to find a house-elf standing in her room.
It's like some kind of horror movie!
Seeing Loila silently bowing her head, Dumbledore slowly asked, "Miss Hamilton, are Hogwarts and Durmstrang very different?"
"Yes..." Royla tapped her fingers and said, "It's... warmer than Durmstrang..."
"And... Durmstrang doesn't have... house-elves..." Durmstrang doesn't rely on house-elves for cleaning; cleaning is something ostracized wizards like Loila do.
But rather than being startled by these little sprites, Loila prefers to clean up herself.
"I see." Dumbledore pondered for a few seconds, then changed the subject: "Please have a seat, Miss Hamilton."
"We're going to have a lot to talk about today."
"Enough, Albus, didn't you see she doesn't want to talk to you?" Suddenly, the portrait on the ceiling spoke, and Loila shuddered.
"That's Fiannis Black," Dumbledore said with a shrug. "The most detestable headmaster of Hogwarts ever."
"What? Albus, those are all mud..." Before he could finish speaking, the annoying Principal Black was interrupted by boos from the people in the other portraits.
Looking at the scene that resembled a wizard's market, Loila bit her lip and slowly sat down.
"The Headmaster's office at Hogwarts is always this lively," Dumbledore said with a smile. "Would you like some honey tsunamis?"
"No...no need." Loila quickly shook her head, eager to finish her conversation with Dumbledore and leave.
Hogwarts is absolutely terrifying... ghosts that walk through walls, various people in portraits who keep muttering... and house-elves that can teleport.
There was nothing that Loila could accept, or rather... wasn't afraid of.
If only they couldn't speak...
This is probably one of Loila's biggest wishes right now.
