The crescent moon, moving on the ground, resembles the dorsal fin of a shark. It moves extremely fast and attacks from the side whenever an enemy attacks from the front, forcing Morse to deal with the situation passively.
602 Staff Member 2
"You shouldn't have made me speculate about him like that, and you certainly shouldn't have spoken ill of him..."
Rage overwhelmed her reason. Despite the excruciating pain throughout her body, Yingque only wanted to tear the person in front of her and her accomplice to shreds. With a raised right hand, she clenched it, then released it...
"Damn it...!"
Caught off guard by the defenses before her, the "dorsal fin" at her feet suddenly lashed out, striking with a huge obtuse angle before spinning back towards Shina. She had been watching this sudden presence for some time and quickly dodged in a low posture.
Only then did they realize that the "shark's dorsal fin" was actually a giant scythe. After its attack missed, it returned to Ying Que's side, and another monster gradually emerged as the scythe returned to its place...
The cloak was made of some kind of black, unidentified substance, and the chains were sharp. Even though he was hunched over, he was still tall and had no facial features or human characteristics. Yet, one could sense traces of human existence in him.
Well, that's four now. There's no chance of winning...
"Ugh...! Uh...!"
The presence of more advisors caused Yingque pain. She knelt on the ground, her eyes constantly scanning her hands, like a child whose ideals had been shattered, helpless and only able to vent her frustration with anger.
Impossible! How could I think like that? I trust him the most, and I clearly want to be a good person, so why are these things appearing around me? What are "them"...? Why do "them" exist? Is it because I need them, because I so desperately hope for them, that they appeared...?
Recalling her seemingly indifferent attitude when her adoptive mother passed away, and the various psychological states that arose after Luo Fan left, including the wicked people who came to this house to cause trouble and make people unhappy, these factors acted as a catalyst, allowing Ying Que to discover the tumor in her heart that she had been trying so hard to deny.
"Girl, stay calm. You've never done anything wrong. You just miss him too much. He hasn't let you down, nor has he ever betrayed you. He just needs time, and so do you. Give each other some time to process this overwhelming sorrow..."
There was no chance of winning in a head-on confrontation, so Morse could only try to guide the conversation while the monsters were hesitant, even though he didn't know if they would give him that opportunity.
"Yes, that's what I think. I won't betray him, and he won't betray me. We've given each other our all..."
Her voice began to tremble, and the monsters also became more restrained, at least no longer showing a strong desire to attack Morse and Shina. They gradually returned to Yingque's body and protected him tightly.
The girl knelt on the ground, hesitant in the midst of an internal struggle, while her advisors, with the most repulsive and terrifying postures in the world, looked around and shielded her beneath them. The clash of black and white created a scene with a strong religious connotation.
Such shock surpasses even the legend of wolves protecting a girl and the emblem of wolves...
She's always been a girl with strong self-regulation skills, so this time, she'll definitely be able to resolve her doubts on her own. Her values will temporarily lead her to deny "their" existence, but this is just a process. The key now is to help her calm down and prevent her from becoming distorted too early...
We just wanted to check on her current mental state and the extent of the distortion, but we didn't expect it to have gotten this serious. Now we understand just how serious her hidden mental illness really is.
The saying "ignorance is bliss" doesn't seem to apply in every situation...
"Requiem"
The final clear voice seemed to herald the end of the farce, and the melodious music lingered, as if carrying a magical power, making all the troubles and hardships forgetful, and only wanting to sleep peacefully. When you wake up the next day and recall your troubles, they are just a momentary lapse of judgment, and you will eventually move forward.
Morse realized that it was all over. As the music grew louder, the girl in front of him gradually calmed down, and the staff gradually disappeared in the spreading shadows, eventually returning to the place that belonged to "them"—not here, not in any field of vision.
The occasional soothing female voice heard in the chords further convinced Morse that the experts who were dealing with the current problem had officially arrived.
The wooden door behind him slowly opened, revealing the conductor and a group of women dressed in orchestral formal attire standing there, as if they were performers who had just come down from a touring stage and were giving a post-performance summary.
Beside Nekitia stood an even taller elderly woman, whose age could be judged from her wrinkles to be between 65 and 70. Her exquisite yet understated clothing and dignified demeanor suggested that she must have been an exceptionally graceful lady in her youth.
"Oh~ So this is the Empress, right? She looks so young. I imagine she must have suffered a lot when faced with such a twisted world?"
The woman spoke softly, then went into the room, picked up the unconscious girl in front of her, and Negitia answered her questions.
"Yes, Mrs. Schwarzitner, we may need to trouble you more in the future regarding her psychological or life issues."
“Oh, no problem,” the old woman smiled, appearing very kind. “I will handle it with Mr. Pavarotti.”
The band members behind him quickly made way, and an elderly man in a black suit strode over. His white hair and beard, a result of his age, were carefully groomed and clearly related to the old woman. In terms of manners and etiquette, he was impeccable.
"Madam, were you looking for me?"
“It’s nothing, Mr. Pavarotti, but we should try to take care of this girl from now on. She’s still very young and not mentally strong enough.”
The old gentleman lowered his head and wiped his reading glasses twice, then carefully examined Yingque in the other person's arms, and subconsciously nodded: "I understand, madam. Now, let's take her back to her room to rest."
After saying that, the two of them left with Yingque, leaving Morse, who was preparing to clean up the mess, and the rest of the orchestra behind.
Morse looked surprised: "Conductor, I don't recall you ever showing such respect to anyone."
“These two are quite special,” Negitia said, not disapproving. “They are a master and servant, and also the tenor and soprano in the orchestra. They joined the orchestra later, and the bishop knows nothing about it, which is understandable. But please believe that entrusting the task to them is trustworthy.”
Let's cast our vote.
Sorry, I've been busy with college application these past few days, so I'm a bit hectic. I should be free tomorrow...
The main storyline has recently reached a turning point, with a certain time gap before the next phase of the plot begins, which means there are choices to be made in the following sections.
Personally, I'd like to write a story about Jamie, about a human experiment. It would be quite long and would resolve some foreshadowing. However, considering that people might also want to see the main storyline, since this side story doesn't involve Luo Fan and Ying Que's story, Jamie is the protagonist in this story.
I choose to respect everyone's opinions; let everyone decide what to watch next.
However, I actually want to write about that human experiment myself, so let me first tell you what the highlights are ( ).
This is a somewhat complex story involving a case from many years ago. The main plot follows Jamie's perspective during the experiment, exploring his observations and experiences.
The overall tone of the story is thrilling, chase, gore, and sexual elements, while the latter half shifts to suspense and horror. I believe everyone remembers the night shift security part from before. Actually, that part wasn't finished, and there were many parts that weren't written, which I feel is a pity. Now it can be presented in a better way here.
Furthermore, although this book is set in a post-apocalyptic world, it seems to rarely touch upon aspects related to human nature. I feel that many post-apocalyptic novels nowadays handle human nature in a very general way, portraying everyone as either black or white, both stupid and evil, making their actions easily understandable. I find this lacking in depth.
So in this side story, I will try to write my understanding of the complexities of human nature in the most exciting way possible, and to show the evil of human nature in an even more complex way. At the same time, I will gradually learn about the story that happened to Jamie. If I can write this well, it will make everyone's blood boil and feel thrilled. Of course, I haven't started writing yet, and I don't know how far I can go, but you can refer to the previous Night Shift part. The reactions from the comments were quite good.
But I respect everyone's choice. If you want to see the main storyline, we'll continue writing the main storyline. If you want to see this human experiment, we'll write it and get through this plot gap.
1. Main Storyline
2. Human Experimentation
Whatever your preference, whatever the outcome, I will still do my best to write a wonderful story.
Volume 1: Prison Break
603 Concept
"Kaga, look at your skinny arms and legs. An aircraft carrier is just an aircraft carrier. What use is it to go to the battlefield? The commander needs your carrier-based aircraft, not you."
"Come on, Jiang Feng, see this table? I can do a lot more than that...!"
"Is your brain short-circuited? We wouldn't be holding back if you weren't so overworked."
"So, with so many destroyers, you just like to make up all sorts of nonsense about main guns?"
"Anyway, I remember that I wasn't the one who got chased and made to run for my life without a main gun."
"It was my own doing to cover for the team and bring those landlubbers back, because I don't throw bombs to make the scene chaotic during a fight."
"It's ridiculous. I don't need anyone to cover me when I'm fighting."

Initially, Luo Fan hadn't expected the mission to drag on for this long...
Forty-five days have passed since the last time they left the police station and gave Leon their contact information. Lovan's plan was to wait for Leon to have an opportunity to contact them secretly using the contact information he had given him last time. However, so far, Leon has only initiated two conversations with them, and the content was limited to confirming each other's identities and the confidentiality of the contact information.
Leon showed a high degree of trust in Lofan and the others, but also said that he had not been able to find an opportunity to meet them in person. After all, Lofan could not give him the video file through any online channel, as that would be too easy to leave traces and arouse suspicion. He had to make sure that the file looked like it was found by Leon himself, rather than provided to him by someone else.
But...45 days...
"To be honest, I can't wait any longer."
In an office on the fourteenth floor, Luo Fan sat impatiently in his office chair, constantly swishing it around. His phone, on speakerphone, was tossed up and caught repeatedly, and his obvious breathing created an eerie atmosphere.
“I know, Commander… We’ve run out of room to expand our sales channels. Thomson and the others haven’t had a break in almost a week to try and solve this problem. No matter what we do, our medicine just can’t get onto the international market. The White Eagle government is putting pressure on us. They want these medicines to be registered as trademarks immediately and become national brands in exchange for high profits, but that goes against our mission.”
Mrs. Grey's explanation was just as troubling for Lofan. He had anticipated this situation. The White Eagle wanted their medicine to become a symbol of their high-tech development, showcasing their national strength while achieving a near-monopoly on high-quality drugs. This would force other countries to purchase their medicines on a large scale, especially given the increasingly serious health and safety issues. Although this would also bring them almost unlimited profits and bring them closer to the White Eagle government, it wasn't the outcome they wanted...
By distancing themselves from the White Eagle government and not explicitly siding with any side, and by simply selling affordable and high-quality medicines, they have gained an advantage in public opinion. If they choose to compromise, their hard-earned reputation will be shattered overnight.
Ultimately, the pharmaceutical market will have two giants, Gray Biotech and Umbrella, who will reach a delicate balance, making it impossible for Umbrella to be overthrown.
"However, we did obtain some interesting information..."
Mrs. Grey never spoke without a reason, which immediately piqued Lofan's interest: "Hmm? Tell me about it."
“We received a message a week ago from a former Umbrella employee who claimed to know some inside information about Umbrella and could act as a witness to accuse Umbrella of crimes. He also revealed someone who could effectively check Wesker…”
"Try to get to the point."
Luo Fan interrupted.
Besides Chris, who else could possibly keep Wesker in check? I don't think anyone in Resident Evil besides the main characters could handle Wesker, unless the timeline or actual events deviate from the main storyline...
For example, Leon and Chris knew each other very early on in this world, and Leon became an agent much faster than in the main story...
He claimed that he would be arrested and imprisoned the following day for illegally selling drugs, and would be serving his sentence in a New York State prison, in order to seek asylum and avoid Umbrella's assassination attempt. He hoped that... we, as a rival company to Umbrella, could provide him with assistance in exchange.
......
The intelligence briefing abruptly ended, and Luo Fan did not respond immediately, which made the girls somewhat uneasy.
Lovan needed time to think. At first glance, it sounded like a very tempting deal, which was exactly what they needed: evidence to accuse Umbrella. But the question was, why did the other side insist that we needed to check Wesker? Why was he so confident that he could use this as a key bargaining chip in the deal?
At first, Lofan was quite skeptical of the other party's credibility, but when the other party mentioned Wesker, he had to take it seriously. After all, despite numerous clashes, large and small, they had never had a direct confrontation with Wesker. Now, a stranger had arrived claiming to be able to counterbalance Wesker, and had deliberately been arrested and imprisoned seeking asylum. He was quite certain that he had been targeted by Umbrella, which meant that what the other party possessed was enough to attract Umbrella's attention, and they needed to silence him immediately...
......
"Commander, what do you think?"
Mrs. Grey's question brought Lofan back to his senses. Before that, Lofan turned to look at the girls, asking for their opinions with his eyes.
The others nodded in acknowledgment...
You can give it a try...
“I understand. Allow the action, try to get in touch with him, and protect him.”
Just as Luo Fan was about to hang up and continue resting, Lady Gray's tone became hesitant again: "No, Commander, what I mean is..."
"We don't have the ability to legally remove him from prison; his sentence doesn't allow for bail. So, the only way we can get him out is..."
"prison Break......"
......
"The problem with the prison break is that we don't have suitable candidates to go through a series of checks, such as physical examinations. Humanoids or Nieto can bypass security checks, but they can't bypass physical examinations."
......
"I...understand, I'll be back in three days."
.....
With his brows furrowed deeply, Luo Fan had a new plan, but this did not mean the situation was becoming more optimistic; on the contrary, it was becoming more complicated.
“Helian, you need to stay in the quarantine area with the others, maintain contact with Lyon at all times, and report the situation immediately,” Luo Fan turned around and said coldly, “Jiang Feng, Kaga, Tirpitz, let’s go. I will personally command this prison break operation.”
604 Good wine nowhere to be found
If we're talking about the best candidates to handle this mission, then perhaps only the ship girls are suitable. However, Luo Fan needs to pay attention to the actions of both sides and the issuance of orders, so he cannot personally participate in this mission. For the first time, he will be doing the work of a true commander, sitting in the rear and directing operations.
After giving Williams a heads-up, the four of them set off together on a road away from the city, crossed the river again, and arrived at a rooftop helipad 30 kilometers away. After packing up their equipment, they disguised themselves as harmless locals and boarded a National Guard helicopter to evacuate.
The girls had no objections; they were used to this style of splitting up, since it was common not to meet often on the battlefield. However, the reluctant looks in Akagi's, Taihou's, and Shoukaku's eyes, including those of the two Royal Navy maids, were still vivid in their minds. It wasn't that they were deliberately isolated, but rather that for a complex and difficult mission like the prison break, Lovan could only entrust it to those steady ship girls. Jiangfeng, Kaga, and Tirpitz—their execution and aloof personalities were perfectly suited to the requirements of this mission.
But that's not enough. We need at least two... three... six ship girls. Sounds like a prison break, right? Actually, no. Luo Fan intends to resolve this matter as quietly as possible. Five people are just a precaution. Besides, it's a state prison. Even if the ship girls' power is beyond human comprehension, having more people can still avoid some troublesome issues.
On the helicopter, everyone remained silent, preferring to say as little as possible and avoid making a lasting impression on the people. They treated it as a routine personnel evacuation.
......
"Commander, it's been almost three months. Are you planning to go back and check on things?"
Now, all you have to do is turn your head to the left and you can see their home, that little bar, just across the street and through a blurry car window dripping with raindrops.
Jiang Feng was one of the earliest ship girls to arrive here and had lived here for a while, so she had some feelings for the place. Her words of comfort were not only out of concern for Luo Fan, but also contained some of her own thoughts.
But Luo Fan simply opened the car window, letting the smoke and ash drift into the rainy night, then silently closed it, expressionless, as if he were just passing through a small part of the lives of countless people in New York, and had nothing to do with him, an "outsider".
“We won’t go back yet,” he shook his head, then turned the key, stepped on the gas, and drove out of the parking line: “We’ll go back after we’ve finished what we need to do.”
Luo Fan's mental state has been very unstable lately. If they meet again, he is worried that his original intentions will waver. It would be better to focus on achieving his goal and wait until he has no worries before going back to his old ways with the girls, sitting in bars, drinking, chatting, playing games, and watching TV.
Their current destination is Mrs. Grey's company, which will serve as their temporary base. During this time, Luo Fan will need to oversee operations from here. Of course, she won't see him here, allowing Luo Fan to focus entirely on his mission without distractions...
After parking their car, the four arrived at the company entrance, where Mercury Rose was already waiting and bowed slightly to Luo Fan.
"Good evening, Commander, it's been a long time."
"Yes, it's been a long time. How have you been lately?"
