As the last wounded soldier was dragged out of the cave, Steve glanced at his watch.
【0:01】
Without any hesitation, he turned around and used all his strength to lunge towards the cave entrance like a cannonball.
The instant his body leaped into the cave entrance, the Hydra base behind him turned into a silent white light.
All matter is reduced to particles in the annihilation of energy.
An invisible shockwave pushed from behind, and Steve tumbled a dozen times in the narrow drainage channel before crashing into Logan and coming to a stop.
"Cough...cough cough..." He coughed violently, his internal organs aching terribly, but he smiled.
He looked at the drainage pipe leading to the outside world and at his comrades behind him, none of whom were missing.
"Captain...we survived?" a young soldier asked, his voice trembling.
“Yes.” Steve stood up and brushed the dust off his clothes. “We survived.”
The soldiers cheered, hugged, and cried.
Only Logan frowned, looking down at Chu Hang on his shoulder.
"Hey kid, the show's over, time to wake up." He patted Chu Hang's face.
Chu Hang didn't respond. His breathing was steady, and his heartbeat was strong, but he just wouldn't wake up.
Logan sensed something was wrong.
This kid's body is so hot, it's like there's a little sun inside.
Moreover, Chu Hang's scent had changed. Before, it smelled like ozone after rain; now it was stronger and purer.
Just then, Chu Hang's eyelids twitched violently while he was unconscious.
His eyes shot open.
Deep within those eyes, it seemed as if two nebulae were swirling, profound and mysterious.
Chu Hang let out a groan, and the strange phenomenon in his eyes disappeared.
He felt as if his brain had been stuffed with a whole library of data, with countless fragments of knowledge about space, dimensions, and energy colliding in his mind.
"Where...where am I?" He shook his head, looking around blankly.
"You're awake?" Steve's voice came through the phone. "How are you feeling?"
"I feel..." Chu Hang moved his body, the weakness disappeared, replaced by an explosive sense of power. He even felt that he could tear the surrounding space apart like paper.
"It feels... great." Chu Hang grinned.
He suddenly felt an itch on his face and instinctively reached out to touch it.
A cool, moist sensation came from my fingertips.
He brought his hand to his eyes, and his pupils contracted.
It was slowly flowing out of his nostrils.
Immediately afterwards, I felt a warm, fluid sensation in my ears.
He saw that Steve across from him and Logan beside him had extremely ugly expressions.
"Boy, your seven orifices... are all bleeding!" Logan's voice was full of horror.
Chu Hang's mind went blank with a buzz.
The next second, a cold and clear thought surfaced in his mind.
The spatial energy is beginning to awaken, and mortal bodies cannot withstand it.
Cells are rebuilding while simultaneously self-destructing. Healing factors can't keep up. Even the super-soldier serum can't stabilize the situation.
The body breaks down much faster than it can repair itself.
Chapter 43 My fate is in my own hands!
When you're down on your luck, even drinking cold water can cause problems.
That's exactly how Chu Hang feels right now.
No, it's death.
A cold voice was counting down in my head.
"Warning: Vital signs are collapsing."
"Expected death in 25 seconds."
"Twenty-four..."
"twenty-three……"
This broken system, which usually pretends to be dead, has now become a deadly devil.
"Screw you!" Chu Hang roared in his mind.
He could feel that his body was completely out of control.
The three forces within him were mixed together in a chaotic mess.
The first force is self-healing energy. Green life energy frantically repairs the torn cells. Just as one hole is repaired, an even bigger one explodes open.
The second force was the Super Soldier Serum. The golden power of law tried to suppress the rampaging energy, but it was shattered as soon as it touched it.
The third force was the culprit. That spatial energy copied from the Cosmic Cube was rampaging through his body, destroying everything.
Chu Hang himself was the mess that had been torn to shreds.
"Kid! Hang in there!"
A hairy face loomed close—it was Logan. For the first time, fear flickered in the old wolf's eyes. He wanted to help, but found his claws and healing abilities utterly useless. He could only smell Chu Hang's life force rapidly fading away.
"Don't give up, Chu!"
Steve rushed over, grabbed Chu Hang's wrist, and looked anxious.
But Chu Hang was already exhausted. His consciousness was like a wrecked ship in a storm, ready to fall apart at any moment.
"Fifteen seconds..."
"Fourteen seconds..."
The countdown in my mind grew clearer with each beat.
Die in this stinking sewer?
What a joke!
I crawled out of a pile of corpses during World War II and barely survived until now... and I'm just gone like this?
I won’t accept this!
A surge of evil fire erupted from the depths of his consciousness.
Why should I die just because you say so?!
I earned my own life! I'm the one who calls the shots!
If you can't save me, I'll save myself!
"Get—back—out!!!"
Chu Hang let out a silent roar in his mind.
He gave up resisting the excruciating pain and ignored Logan and Steve's shouts outside. He channeled all his mental energy, like a gambler who had lost everything, and plunged it deep into the core of his body!
He saw the full picture of the war.
Representing the self-healing factor is a vast ocean of green life, where countless vines grow wildly, repairing the wounds.
Representing the Super Soldier Serum is a golden web of laws covering the entire space, with each node shimmering with starlight, representing absolute order.
And that blue spatial energy...
It is a tiny universe that is slowly rotating. A nascent universe composed of nascent stars and raging nebulae.
A blue cosmic storm is tearing apart the green ocean of life and impacting the golden web of order.
In the face of these three, Chu Hang's consciousness was as insignificant as a speck of dust.
He finally understood why the system had given up on treatment.
This is not even in the same dimension.
Despair overwhelmed him.
Just as his consciousness was about to fade, he saw it.
At the heart of the Golden Web lies Steve's source of power—protection and resilience.
Deep within the green ocean lies Logan's source of strength—survival and tenacity.
What do I represent?
Chu Hang recalled that before he transmigrated, he was just a miserable overworked office worker.
I remembered how I was terrified of artillery shells in the Normandy trenches, and how I wet myself in fear.
I recalled the past when I used every trick in the book to survive, and my integrity was completely shattered.
I represent nothing.
I'm just an ordinary person who's afraid of death and wants to live!
My only redeeming quality... is my greed!
Only children make choices, I want them all!
Since it's all my power, why should they let me destroy my home?!
A crazy idea pierced the darkness.
He no longer resists, nor can he command.
What he can do is guide.
