Chapter 65: Level 4 Windship!
Chapter 65: Level 4 Windship!
It was already noon when they got back to shore; Su Jin was exhausted from carrying steel and wood.
There was no other way; once we got down the mountain, the rolling device stopped working, so we had to find another way to get the thing to the shore.
It's nothing more than lifting or dragging, but obviously the former is not feasible at all, so dragging is the only way, which is very primitive and laborious.
Even Su Jin, a tough guy, couldn't take it anymore after a while, and his clothes were soaked with sweat.
Fortunately, their efforts paid off. Steelwood was eventually dragged to the shore, and the four of them worked together to get it onto the boat, where it was then handed over to Su Jin.
Su Jin jumped onto the boat and began moving things out of the cabin.
"Flax, that's enough."
Bundles of processed, supple flax fibers were brought out and piled up beside the ship, numbering over fifty. Each bundle was a unit, but this time only ten units were needed.
He had already prepared 80 units of timber.
I cut down quite a few on Chestnut Round Island, a total of 100 units. I just need to bring them up and submit them.
Everything needed to upgrade a Tier 4 sailboat is ready.
Shen Ruying, Shen Qiaoqiao, and Li Yuanyuan, who was sitting by the ship's side, all watched intently.
They knew what this meant: the ship was being upgraded, and their true home at sea was coming.
While the previous pedal boats were better than rafts, they were still a bit cramped.
Sailing ships, on the other hand, sound spacious and sturdy, capable of going to farther places.
Shen Qiaoqiao's eyes sparkled, and she couldn't help but ask in a low voice:
"Uncle, will the new ship have big rooms? I... I want a small corner to put my tools."
Li Yuanyuan also looked up, her injured face full of expectation:
"Now that the ship is bigger, I also want my own kitchen so I can try making even more delicious dishes!"
Shen Ruying didn't speak, but gently put her arm around her daughter's shoulder, her gaze shifting between Su Jin and the materials, her eyes revealing a hint of longing for a stable future.
"It will get better." Su Jin replied with only four words, and then did not linger.
He submitted the required materials to the system and then upgraded it.
The familiar white light appeared instantly, more intense and longer than ever before, completely engulfing the entire 16-square-meter paddleboard boat.
In the light, one could hear the low, rumbling sounds of wood growing and spreading, and canvas unfurling.
Shen Ruying and her daughter subconsciously took a few steps back, while Li Yuanyuan also tried to sit up straight, staring wide-eyed at the scene before her.
The white light lasted for almost a minute before slowly dissipating.
A brand new sailboat appeared before them.
The most obvious change is that the length and width of the hull have increased significantly, and the area is estimated to be four times that of the original, which is a full 64 square meters.
The ship floated steadily on the water, but the waterline was much deeper, giving it a more stable feel compared to before.
The deck has also become much larger; it no longer feels like you can barely stand on it, but now it's big enough for someone to roll around on.
But the most noticeable change is in the middle of the hull.
A straight, towering, dark silver mainmast stands tall, formed from the steel and wood trunk.
A square mainsail made of linen was already hoisted at the top of the mast, with auxiliary cables and rigging at the front and rear of the mast.
At the fore and aft ends of the deck, there is a compartment with a sloping roof.
The forward cabin is a bit larger and leads to the area below deck, which can be used as storage space.
The aft cabin is divided into two levels, with the upper level being the deck and the main living area.
The lower level is the power room and storage room, above which is installed a sturdy wooden steering wheel, connected to the underwater rudder blade.
This involved upgrading the wooden oars and the Minglun pedals, turning them into auxiliary power. However, this meant that they could now easily control the direction of the boat while standing on it.
Thus, Su Jin's island finally transformed from a barely drifting vessel into a proper means of transportation that could be called a "boat".
"Wow!" Shen Qiaoqiao exclaimed, her mouth agape.
"So big..." Li Yuanyuan murmured. This was much bigger and more comfortable than the Water Curtain Cave where she used to live!
Although Shen Ruying didn't say anything, she couldn't hide the smile in her eyes. Looking at this ship, she felt particularly safe.
With his feet firmly planted on the solid deck and his hands gripping the helm, Su Jin's gaze swept over the mast and sails, a surge of pride and a sense of security welling up within him.
This sailing ship will be a significant milestone for him in becoming the Pirate King, marking a real step forward!
"Get on the boat." He turned back and reached out to the three people on the shore. "Take a look at our new home."
Because the ship had grown larger, it wasn't so easy to get on. Su Jin had to help each person up one by one from the side of the ship. First, it was the adorable Li Yuanyuan, followed by Shen Ruying and Shen Qiaoqiao.
He led the three of them around their new home.
First, the front cabin.
Opening the small door at the top of the ramp reveals a ramp leading directly to the deck below. The space is deeper than expected, but the height is limited, requiring adults to bend over to enter.
It was empty inside, and the air was a bit stuffy, but the area was not small, about a dozen square meters.
"This will serve as the main storage room," Su Jin said, pointing inside.
"Grain, surplus timber, stone, and flax—things that take up space and aren't used often—are all piled up here. And also..."
"Those two sheep can be temporarily penned up in this corner, and we can discuss it again when conditions are better later."
He paused, then added, as if feeling a headache coming on:
"But we need to get them a fixed enclosure as soon as possible to prevent them from chewing on things inside."
Even if these two animals have made a mistake, they shouldn't be killed. We're counting on them to produce more milk and offspring.
After viewing the front cabin, we proceeded to the rear cabin.
The structure here is a bit more complicated. The lower level leads to the power room, which is cramped and can only hold some critical spare parts and a small amount of valuable supplies.
The upper floor is the actual living area, where Su Jin and the others usually spend their time.
Su Jin opened the door, revealing a square space of about twenty square meters. The ceiling was slightly higher than the storage room below, just high enough to allow one to stand upright.
There are simple wooden windows that let in light, but you can also see the whole thing at a glance.
The interior is currently empty, with only bare wooden walls and floors.
"This is where we'll mainly live and spend our time from now on." Su Jin walked in and gestured roughly with his hands to indicate the location. "The space is limited, so we need to plan it out carefully."
He looked at Li Yuanyuan:
"Yuanyuan, I can only give you a small corner of the kitchen, right by the window... I'll have Qiao help you make a fixed stove and a small cabinet, but we'll have to collect the pots, pans, and other utensils gradually."
Li Yuanyuan nodded quickly, her eyes already scanning the corner by the window, her mind already planning how to decorate it.
Su Jin then looked at Shen Qiaoqiao:
"Qiaoqiao, your workspace... I'm afraid it can only be this smaller corner behind the door. At most, there will be a small worktable and a tool rack. Larger items will probably have to be put away after they're finished."
Shen Qiaoqiao glanced at the shabby corner of the room, pouted slightly, but didn't complain; she just nodded vigorously.
"Okay, sir, just give me a chair to sit on!"
Anyway, her talent doesn't require any tools. All she needs is a place to put what she makes and a place to sit while she works.
She didn't want to stand and work all the time; her legs were so sore, she'd never been this tired even when she was in school.
"As for where to stay..." Su Jin's gaze swept across the entire room, finally landing on the innermost part, far from the doors and windows.
This place is relatively dry, so it's obviously the most suitable location to live in.
But now a problem has arisen: there's only enough space for a slightly wider bed, just enough for two people to sleep in.
