Chapter 27: Dongguan Boy's Hurdles
Chapter 27: Dongguan Boy's Hurdles
Song Zhaowen neither agreed nor disagreed with the suggestion to plant flags on airplanes.
"Confidence is good, but never be arrogant. Although Wo Shing Wo is a sunset triad, there is a local gangster named Tung Tung who is very good at fighting."
Before coming to Tin Shui Wai, Song Zhaowen spent some money to gather most of the information about local triads.
Yuen Long went to Tin Shui Wai, which was a Wo Shing Wo area.
Wo Shing Wo was a branch of the 14K triad, and its leader was the notorious sex offender Bing. (From "The Organized Crime and Triad Bureau Files")
Tin Shui Wai was under the jurisdiction of Tung Tung Boy. At this time, Tung Tung Boy had not yet joined Wo Luen Shing. Although he did not open a separate gang, he led a group of country thugs to make a living in Tin Shui Wai.
The plane muttered, "Dongguan boy? Just hearing that name makes me want to punch him."
The meal is over.
Song Zhaowen got up to pay the bill.
The waiter waved his hands repeatedly, a fawning smile on his face: "The boss instructed that the three of you are big shots from Zhengxing, so this meal is on the house."
Song Zhaowen chuckled and said, "I, Song Zhaowen, never eat for free. Your small business isn't easy either." He then took out a large gold bull bill from his wallet and placed it on the table.
The shop assistant shook his head repeatedly: "Boss, this is a small business, we can't make change."
"Keep the change. Consider it compensation for the damage earlier. If there's anything left, consider it a tip."
"Huh?" This was the first time the waiter had ever seen a gangster speak so politely. In the past, gangsters from Tin Shui Wai would always pay IOUs when they came to eat, let alone give a generous tip.
The man was deeply moved.
He gritted his teeth, seemingly having gone through an internal struggle: "Boss, you're a good person. If I, Ah Lin, am going to say something, everyone, please leave quickly. That blond-haired guy is the cousin of the Dongguan guy... He won't let the blond-haired guy get away with this."
"Understood, thank you." Song Zhaowen patted the waiter on the shoulder, but judging from his expression, he clearly didn't take the warning to heart.
The three of them paid their bill and walked out of the tea restaurant to get into their car. Song Zhaowen had just lit a cigarette and hadn't even taken two puffs when he heard a series of "clang, clang, clang" sounds of baseball bats hitting metal coming from across the street.
Across the street, a dozen or so gangsters dressed in flashy shirts and tight pants, with brightly colored hair, were slowly walking towards them, surrounding a young man with a middle parting, wearing a floral shirt with his chest open, revealing a tattoo on his chest and a thick gold chain.
He's from Dongguan.
He had a cigarette dangling from his mouth and an expression of extreme disdain and arrogance on his face. Even more striking was the hollow steel pipe he carried, over a meter long, which he rhythmically used to strike the rusty iron railings and abandoned metal trash cans along the roadside, producing a piercing noise.
The dozen or so thugs behind them were also carrying steel pipes and baseball bats, staring at Song Zhaowen and his two companions with hostile eyes.
Shops on both sides of the street closed their doors and shutters, and pedestrians kept their distance.
The boy from Dongguan used one hand to support himself as he stepped over the railing. He walked straight to Song Zhaowen and the others and stopped a few meters away.
The thug who had just escaped pointed at Song Zhaowen and the others behind Dongguan Boy: "Brother Dongguan, it's those three, from the Tsz Wan Shan 'Zhengxing' gang, they're really fierce!"
The Dongguan guy squinted at Song Zhaowen, sizing him up, then slung the steel pipe over his shoulder and sneered, "Hey, three bastards beat up my cousin and think they can just walk away like that? They've got some nerve. Do they even know who's in charge here?!"
The plane stepped forward, blocking Song Zhaowen's path, and sneered, "I don't care who's in charge! Your cousin's mouth is foul, I'll teach him a lesson! What, you're not happy about it?"
Song Zhaowen remained calm, took a drag of his cigarette, and exhaled a puff of smoke: "You're from Dongguan, right? Your cousin provoked us first and attacked us first. We were just defending ourselves. It's nothing serious, no need to make a big deal out of it."
"Making a big deal out of this?" Dongguan guy sneered as if he'd heard a joke. "You beat up my men on my turf and then say my cousin provoked you? Zhengxing, do you think you're superior just because you're from Hong Kong Island? If you don't give me an explanation today, none of you three will leave Tin Shui Wai alive!"
As soon as he finished speaking, several henchmen behind him immediately brandished their weapons and stepped forward menacingly.
The plane and Xiao Zhuoxiao also got into fighting stances, ready to start a fight. The atmosphere instantly became tense, and the few pedestrians around them kept their distance.
Just then, a crisp whistle and footsteps came from the street corner.
"Beep—beep beep."
"Hey you guys up there, what are you doing? Are you causing trouble?!"
Two policemen in military uniforms were patrolling from the other end of the street. When they saw that something was wrong, they immediately blew their whistles and ran over quickly.
Hong Kong's uniformed police force (PTU) patrols very frequently, especially in areas with poor security. Areas like Tin Shui Wai are particularly known for their frequent patrols.
Upon seeing the police, Dongguan guy's expression changed, but he quickly regained his arrogant demeanor. He gestured for his men to put away their weapons, but did not back down.
Two uniformed policemen ran over, looking warily at the two groups facing off: "What's going on? What are all these people doing here? Do you want to fight?"
One of the young policemen saw Dongguan Boy and frowned: "It's you again, Dongguan Boy! Getting into trouble again?"
The man from Dongguan shrugged, looking innocent. "Officer, don't wrong an innocent person. My cousin got beaten up, I just came over to ask what happened. What, is asking questions illegal?"
Another, slightly older policeman looked at Song Zhaowen and his two companions: "Who are you? Why are you fighting?"
Song Zhaowen stubbed out his cigarette and said politely, "Officer, we came from Hong Kong Island on business and had lunch at a tea restaurant there. These friends may have had a misunderstanding and a little conflict. It's all over now."
Dongguan shrugged: "Officer, it was just a joke."
The older police officers knew exactly what was going on. But they also knew that even if they brought these gangsters back to the police station, they could only stay for a maximum of 24 hours, and they would have to take a lot of statements, which would be very troublesome.
Clearly, Song Zhaowen and Dongguanzi didn't want to escalate the matter to the police station after the police arrived.
Matters of the martial world should be settled within the martial world itself!
"If there's nothing else, disperse now," the older policeman shouted. "Gathering here is affecting the city's appearance. If I see you causing trouble again, I'll take you all back!"
The Dongguan guy grinned and nodded to the policeman, "Roger that, sir. We're off now." He then turned to Song Zhaowen, his eyes filled with undisguised coldness. He lowered his voice and said in a tone only a few people nearby could hear, "Consider yourselves lucky. We'll see what happens next."
After saying that, he snapped his fingers at his men: "Let's go!"
The two policemen warned Song Zhaowen a few more times, telling them to leave as soon as possible, before continuing their patrol.
Looking in the direction where Dongguan boy disappeared, Feiji spat, "Damn it, he's lucky; otherwise, I'd beat the shit out of him!"
(Christmas is approaching, so there will be extra updates these past two days. Christmas is also known as the night of losing one's virginity, so I wish all my brothers a fruitful year.)
