"I understand!" Taro took a deep breath and clenched his fist, ready to fight.
"Taro, what are you going to do this time?" Rakuna once again revealed a sly look in her eyes.
"Hmm... if I lost with scissors just now, I'll choose paper this time!" Taro said confidently.
"Then~" Lena said, clenching her little fist, "One more time."
The two of them shouted at the same time, "Rock, paper, scissors!"
Taro lost again... He shook his head: "Saya! Another matcha parfait!"
The woman with long, straight black hair in the kitchen heard this and looked up.
That guy, was he doing it on purpose?
Looking at Taro's serious face, the long-haired woman shook her head. Anyone who had known him for a while could tell that he wasn't that kind of person.
"Miss Sha Ling, another matcha parfait, please." The long-haired woman called out to the person behind her, "That's what the customer said."
"Understood," Sha Ling replied.
Soon, Sha Ling put down the three cups of matcha parfait: "Little Lena, the boss will scold you if you eat too much."
Lena kept her head down and ate her parfait, ignoring Saya's words.
"Saya, where is Rinrinko?" Taro asked Saya when he didn't see Rinrinko.
"Miss Rinrinko is preparing the ingredients now, she'll be back soon," Saya said with a smile. "Does Taro want to continue practicing in the practice room?"
"Yes!" Taro stood up excitedly: "I've finally found the feeling of my own band."
He clutched his heart: "For the past eighteen years, it feels like I was born just for this moment."
"Haha..." Sha Ling squinted and laughed awkwardly, "That's going too far."
"That's exactly what I think!" Taro said without any hesitation.
"Then I'll take my leave," Sha Ling smiled and went to handle the other customers' orders.
Lena looked up at Taro, her cat-like eyes crinkling as she pondered something. After finishing two cups of parfait, she jumped to the ground, grabbed her guitar case, and said, "Satisfied," before quietly slipping away.
"Ah, little Lena, is your performance over for today?" The blonde older sister walked in, saw Lena preparing to leave, and greeted her.
"Good evening, Ms. Rinrinko," Taro greeted her.
"Taro, good evening." Rinrinko greeted him as well: "Are you here to renew your lease again today?"
"Yes!" Taro nodded excitedly, "But today is a little different."
"Eh, is that so?" Rinrin grabbed Ryuna's collar as she tried to sneak away. "But if Taro's here, does that mean...? Little Ryuna, how much matcha parfait did you just eat?"
Rinrinko looked at the four empty cups on the table and asked Ryuna with a smile.
Lena shrank her neck: "Um, one."
"Really?" She looked at Taro and asked, "Taro, how many matcha parfaits did Rakuna eat?"
“Hmm…” Taro made a thoughtful expression, while Rakuna looked at Taro with pleading eyes.
"Three!" Taro saw Rakuna's look and answered loudly, "I think one was already eaten when I came, so there are three!"
Lena's eyes instantly went dead.
"These kinds of things are usually not talked about, right?" The woman with long black hair walked over.
"Shiina, good evening." Taro greeted him very earnestly.
"Ah..." Shiina seemed a little uncomfortable: "Good evening."
"Little Renai, eating too much matcha parfait will give you cavities." Rinrinko looked at the other person dangerously: "I'll talk to the boss about what happened today."
"Hmm..." The cat lowered its head in grievance, grabbed its guitar, and left.
“But Momoi is definitely not someone you can lie to,” Shiina said softly, watching the stray cat leave.
"You two seem to have a really good relationship." A girl with long, black, rock-and-roll-style hair walked out of the practice room carrying a huge suitcase. "I'm jealous."
"Huh?" Shiina exhaled through her mouth: "I don't understand. Rinrinko-san, I'll be going now."
"Okay, Riki, take care on your journey," Rinrinko waved goodbye to Shiina.
"Are you shy?" the rock girl asked very bluntly.
"Huh? That doesn't make sense." Shiina left.
"You're definitely shy," Hai Ling said in her very distinctive voice.
"Oh! Take care on your journey." Taro waved goodbye to Riki, then turned to the rock girl and said, "Good evening, Hailing."
"Good evening, Taro," Hailin replied calmly. "You seem especially excited today. Are you going to renew the practice room lease again?"
"Yes, but today is special." Taro said with a hint of excitement, "My band is finally going to start. Tomorrow at five o'clock in the afternoon, this practice room will no longer be empty."
"Congratulations." Hai Ling didn't react in any particular way, but took the opportunity to promote herself: "If you need bass support, just contact me. If you contact me a week in advance, I can usually make time for you."
“No, I don’t plan to have any supporting musicians.” Taro smiled confidently: “I have a goal to achieve, and for that goal, I need a long-term band.”
"I see." Hai Ling paused for a moment. She had seen Taro here quite a few times, and Taro was also a senior to the musicians she supported. Naturally, she understood what kind of person Taro was.
"May I ask?" Hai Ling said softly, "How long does Taro plan to keep the band together?"
"Until I can no longer play music," Taro said with great certainty.
Lenai, who hadn't gone far, twitched her ears and smiled slightly: "An interesting man."
"I see. That's great." Hailing said softly, "Then, can I join you?"
Taro looked into Hai Ling's eyes and curled his lips into a smile: "Hmm, Hai Ling's strength is not to be underestimated; I've already witnessed that. Since you're coming, I won't refuse."
"That's quite a cunning excuse," Hailing said bluntly. "I understand. What's the meeting time? Tomorrow afternoon at five o'clock?"
"No, the current member is still a rookie, and we won't be able to gather until she's qualified. However, since you've made up your mind, your title in the band will be Bass Ape!"
Momoi Taro shouted these words out loud with great excitement. Hai Ling's eyes twitched, and Rin Rinko, who was watching the commotion from the side, also felt like laughing, so she quickly covered her mouth.
Hai Ling tried hard to think about Taro's words, and after a while, she said in a calm tone, "I see. So it's a band based on the legend of Momotaro. I understand. I'll go now. If you need anything, just contact me on Line."
Hai Ling left quickly, her slightly trembling steps perhaps indicating that she had begun to regret her decision.
The fourth time, we went on a date.
After Hailin left, Taro and Rinrinko renewed their practice room contract for a whole year.
Yes, the whole year.
Taro dropped out of school at the age of 14. He saved all his money by supporting musicians and working part-time jobs.
He later used that money to rent a practice room at the popular livehouse CiRCLE, and then switched to RING after RING opened in Ikebukuro.
In addition to the practice room, he bought all sorts of musical instruments, which he placed in the practice room.
Taro is very talented. He can learn any musical instrument very well with just a little practice. Taro has this kind of talent.
However, one's own talent alone cannot form a band, nor can it bring happiness to others.
Because how can someone who doesn't understand happiness use music to bring happiness to others? Even after decades of life, someone as strong as Taro is still confused. His mind tells him to make good music, but he doesn't know if he can truly sing out the feeling of happiness for others.
This sense of confusion prevented Taro from making any progress. Even Chuchu, who was supporting RAS, said that although Taro's guitar playing was technically impeccable, it lacked a true soul.
Therefore, when he met Chihaya Aine, he felt that he could finally begin.
That girl, despite being injured, kept smiling. She must have finally understood the meaning of happiness.
So Taro invited her to form a band. Taro genuinely believed that Chihaya Aine had such talent, even though her guitar skills were zero.
Then, in front of her, Taro sang. The moment Taro's music touched her, Taro knew it was time to form a band.
After Taro finished recording his song in RiNG's practice room, he left RiNG to do his own thing.
Naturally, he investigated Ichinose Motoyo's matter, but after working on it for a while, he didn't find anything. He could only go home and rest for the whole night.
"Good morning, senior." The blue-haired girl with twin tails, wearing a red uniform, was working in the sorting area. She greeted Taro as he arrived, her amber eyes brimming with gratitude.
"Good morning, Xiangzi," Taro greeted her naturally, standing next to her and starting his sorting work as well: "You're here really early."
"You've already helped me a lot with school matters, so I want to make it up to you, at least on Sundays," the girl said with a smile.
"That's a good idea, but you can't overwork yourself." Taro took a metal candy jar from his pocket, opened it, and handed it to him, asking, "Have one?"
"Yes, I know." Xiangzi looked at the two candies left in the metal can, took one out, and slowly peeled off the sugar coating: "Thank you, senior."
Toyokawa Shoko joined Shirokuma Express as a sorting worker a month ago.
It was Taro who introduced her to the job. Generally speaking, the position of courier does not hire minors, and even for sorting, it is better to use adults.
However, Taro was familiar with the manager, and he was also considered an ace in the delivery business. With Taro's guarantee, he was hired as a temporary worker.
"Speaking of which, I heard from the seniors yesterday that the legendary package is now being delivered by you?" Toyokawa Shoko asked curiously during her work.
"Yes, officially, Mr. Ichinose gave this to me. I searched for it all night last night. We've almost found all the homes in Ichinose, Tokyo." Taro responded with his usual smile.
"Ahaha... That sounds really tough. Has senpai ever considered it..." Toyokawa Shoko imagined Taro traveling all over Tokyo and Ichinose's house, and just thinking about it made her feel exhausted.
Thinking this way, she couldn't help but admire her senior's initiative. If it were her, she probably wouldn't have been able to go to such lengths for strangers.
However, she wanted to help her senior, who had saved her that day, so at least she could help him a little bit: "Have you ever considered changing your surname?"
"Change your surname?" Taro asked, a little puzzled, but his hands didn't stop moving.
"Yes, I've heard from my seniors about Mr. Ichinose. After a divorce, whether he remarries or gets married again, he probably changes his children's surname."
"I see, I didn't know that." Taro suddenly realized, "Then I'll ask Mr. Ichinose's ex-wife's name later."
"Yes, you can definitely do it, senpai," Toyokawa Shoko encouraged Taro, just like the day she redeemed herself...
"Alright, alright, let's take a break from work for a bit." Ms. Sanae, the manager, clapped her hands, and everyone who was working put down their packages and gathered around: "I made bento boxes for everyone today too."
"Oh!!" Everyone who had worked hard raised their hands and cheered.
After everyone sat down at the table, one of the colleagues asked Taro, "Taro, shall we play rock-paper-scissors today? Let's bet on this tamagoyaki."
“Okay, let’s go!” Taro stood up and clenched his fist very proactively.
The two women, one old and one young, on either side of Taro simultaneously covered their foreheads.
