Chapter 569 A Decision
Xiren and his companions went through all the newspapers in the common room and finally concluded that there was absolutely no information about the Death Eaters escaping.
A dozen or so Death Eaters escaped from prison, but there was no related report in the Daily Prophet.
"It must be because the Ministry of Magic is keeping it a secret," Harry said angrily. "They think they can maintain a semblance of peace this way, these self-deceiving ostriches."
"Maybe they know everything, but the Ministry of Magic forbids reporting these things," Ron said.
"Whichever it is, this matter involves the Ministry of Magic." Hermione threw the newspaper she was holding to the ground. "Aren't these people afraid that the escaped Death Eaters will harm others?!"
“Of course I’m not afraid. Fudge is only afraid that someone will use this to attack him,” Siron said. “Don’t forget, before this, Azkaban, which is supposed to be absolutely safe, had already experienced two prison breaks. Especially the second one, it’s been almost a year since it happened, but the Aurors haven’t caught a single escapee. Everyone had long been questioning the efficiency of the Ministry of Magic. It was only later, when Barty Crouch walked right into the trap, that the Ministry of Magic managed to save some face and gave Fudge a chance to catch his breath.”
“That’s right.” Ron nodded. “I heard from my father that for a while, howling letters were being sent to the Ministry of Magic every day, until the Ministry of Magic took credit for killing Barty Crouch, and then the number of owls decreased a bit.”
"That's the reason," Celen said. "If a third prison break were to appear in the newspapers by then, do you think Fudge would bear a huge responsibility? Would he still be able to sleep?"
"Afraid to take responsibility for this ridiculous reason?" Harry frowned. "Those are fifteen Death Eaters."
“That reason is not ridiculous at all, Harry,” Sirius said. “In fact, Fudge went mad when Dumbledore announced his departure from the Department of Magic. What’s a little cover-up of an escape? He’ll do anything to keep his ministerial position.”
"No way!" Harry suddenly looked up. "If the Ministry of Magic won't say anything, then I will. We need to let more people know about this."
Seeing Harry suddenly become so enthusiastic, Siron hesitated for a moment, but still said nothing.
This is a good thing, but it's not very useful.
For most students, they clearly trusted the Ministry of Magic and the Daily Prophet more than Harry, who only had one nickname, "the Savior."
If Dumbledore had announced it himself, perhaps half the people would have believed it, but Harry—he would probably only be seen by the rest as a clown trying to attract attention.
However, as long as even one person is willing to believe it, that's a good thing—well, it'll also give Umbridge and Fudge a bit of trouble.
"Alright," Siren said. "If you insist on doing this, I can find you two helpers; they'll definitely be happy to assist."
"That's right." Ron patted Harry's shoulder hard. "Don't worry, Harry, I'll definitely help you."
"Me too," Hermione said.
"What are you two doing here?" Xilun glanced at them.
"But didn't you just say there were two people willing to help Harry?" Ron paused slightly, "Wasn't it me and Hermione—"
"Of course not, I was talking about Fred and George."
"But we're willing to help too!" Ron retorted, sticking his neck out.
"They have ways to evade Umbridge and Filch's searches, can you do the same?" Siren asked.
"I—" Ron opened his mouth, but then stopped speaking.
"Wait a minute." Hermione paused, "Sirlen, what do you mean by evading Umbridge's search?"
"By posting notices at school at night, we can avoid being searched."
"A notice?"
"Or do you want to give a passionate speech in the auditorium during dinner?" Siren countered.
Harry scratched his head and chuckled dryly.
It's not hard to see that he probably really has this idea.
Hermione was startled by his actions. She was certain that if Harry had actually done that, he would have been expelled from Umbridge that very day.
"You idiot!" she muttered under her breath.
"I...I didn't mean to give a speech, really," Harry explained quietly, repeatedly emphasizing that he only wanted to spread rumors.
In Hermione's view, the only difference between this and giving a public speech is that one gets caught on the spot and the other gets caught after an investigation; there's no difference.
"Alright, if you hurry, you might still be able to catch Fred and George's latest move," Celen reminded him. "By the way, don't just post the letter on the notice board. Do some artistic embellishment, and don't write your own name. Write the name of someone more famous."
"Someone more famous?" Harry, who had just run out, stopped and asked疑惑地问道, "Who?"
"Dumbledore would be good," Sirren said after a moment's thought. "He's not afraid of Umbridge causing trouble, and more importantly, he should be very willing to help."
Harry was stunned, and not only him, Ron and Hermione were also staring intently at Cyron.
This is slandering the principal! He'll definitely be expelled!
"Write it without worry." Sirius waved his hand. "If Dumbledore really asks, just say it was my idea."
Harry hesitated for a moment, saying he would think about it, and then ran back to his dormitory.
Ron and Hermione followed along.
Although Xilun said that, they did help in some way.
Hermione rewrote an article about the Death Eaters' escape, Ron brought Harry the Invisibility Cloak when he was about to leave, and then helped him find Fred and George.
Just as Siron had said, the two were happy to help Harry with this task—posting a few hundred notices was a piece of cake for them, given their access to the Marauder's Map and their ability to keep track of Umbridge and Filch's movements.
I'd be willing to plaster notices all over Hogwarts if it meant making Umbridge unhappy.
However, they were not entirely satisfied with the content of the notice.
Looking at the blank space at the bottom, Fred decisively took out his quill and wrote "Albus Dumbledore" in cursive script.
Harry was too shy; he worried that this might affect Dumbledore, and in the end, he didn't take Nashley's advice.
In contrast, Fred and George had fewer concerns—or rather, they believed that this was no big deal for Dumbledore.
After they finished writing, the two examined it carefully for a while and nodded solemnly.
Just as Siron had said, with Dumbledore's signature, the notice looked much more authentic than the previous one.
