4-4 Reunion
4-4 Reunion
The radar could only show a general location; they eventually pinpointed it to Cheming Lake City.
It started raining. Chen Wenwu and his group arrived at Cheming Lake City. He hooked his mechanical arm onto the city wall, preparing to swing directly in, but was stopped by a guard.
"Please show your spiritual power." Jian Chenxin, the one who had spoken earlier, stopped Chen Wenwu, his sword reflecting light from the universe. Chen Wenwu pointed to his backpack: "Isn't this it? Don't bother me while I'm looking for someone, thank you." Jian Chenxin's sword was close to Chen Wenwu's neck: "These things are everywhere. Please don't interfere with official business or make inappropriate jokes." Chen Wenwu was speechless: "This is it. I really have an urgent matter to attend to. I need to find a friend I've lost contact with for many years. The approximate location is around here." At this moment, Xinghan and Shenlong also arrived. It seemed as if there was a screen around them, shielding them from the rain.
Seeing the scene before him, Xinghan hurriedly asked, "What happened?" Seeing that Chen Wenwu might be injured, the Divine Dragon behind him also lit up its light.
Jian Chenxin replied, "This person cannot demonstrate spiritual power and shows signs of obstructing official duties." Chen Wenwu was truly speechless with frustration: "Elder sister, this is my spiritual power, okay?" Xinghan also demonstrated her spiritual power, with Shenlong following, and the two of them testified together: "We are together and can vouch for his spiritual power." Jian Chenxin had no choice but to let them pass. After Chen Wenwu and the others left, she sat on the city gate, holding an old photograph in her hand. Watching them leave, she murmured, "Father, I did a good job on what you entrusted to me, but when will you come back..." She tightened her grip on the photograph, but quickly put it back, brandishing her sword against the wall, the blade gleaming in the sunlight.
Chen Wenwu and his two companions walked down the street, surrounded by people with spiritual power, most of whom were earning money through it. Some performed by breathing fire, their bowls barely containing any food; others used ice to cool people down, earning a higher income; and still others offered consultations, with a long queue forming. Everyone was working in the rain, seemingly unconcerned about the downpour.
Then, they saw Mo Bei in the crowd; he was getting soaked in the rain on the street.
"Mo Bei!" Chen Wenwu rushed forward. Mo Bei was still in the Divine Lord Realm. Xing Han was heartbroken and only wanted to quickly return to Tianxing to change into more presentable clothes.
Mo Bei saw someone rushing towards him on the screen, swaying as they went. He thought, "I should go check it out; it seems like he needs something from me." The next second, his consciousness returned to his body.
"Mo Bei!" Chen Wenwu called out, still clutching the Bluetooth device Mo Bei had left behind, about to return it to him. Xing Han quickly arrived from the other side. Mo Bei replied, "Are you calling me? What are those two characters?" Seeing Mo Bei's reaction, Chen Wenwu deduced that he had amnesia: "We call you this, that's your name." Mo Bei replied, "Does everyone have a name?" Chen Wenwu nodded, pulling Mo Bei towards the Pa Ying ship and giving him an umbrella.
Mo Bei asked, "What are you going to do?" The little red flower beside Chen Wenwu swayed. Chen Wenwu replied, "Take you home." Mo Bei asked, "What's home?" Chen Wenwu could only explain, "It's a place where you have friends, people who are good to you, (he thought Mo Bei had nowhere to hide from the rain) where you can take shelter from it." Mo Bei was delighted to hear that he could escape this wretched thing: "Then this home is pretty good, let's go quickly." Xing Han just followed behind without saying a word. She didn't stick close to Mo Bei anymore, thinking about how to make Mo Bei remember them.
A person in the distance watched all of this, and he pressed a button.
"Amnesia means you've lost your memories of things you've experienced before," Chen Wenwu explained to Mo Bei. Mo Bei listened quietly. Then he added, "You used to be very good to us." Mo Bei asked, "How so?" Chen Wenwu replied, "We fought enemies together, went on adventures on Tianxing..." He said a lot, and tears welled up in his eyes, but he managed to hold them back.
An explosion echoed in the distance. Then, the ground of Cheming Lake City cracked open, extending right to their feet. A massive fissure opened underground; Chen Wenwu lost his grip, and Mo Bei fell in. Below was a rushing river, and Mo Bei was instantly submerged, his head hitting a rock, and he lost consciousness.
"No!" Chen Wenwu tried to reach out with his mechanical arm to grab it, but missed. His mechanical arm only stretched out in the air before quickly drooping down. Shenlong immediately jumped down to search, but found nothing. The umbrella slowly drifted from the city of Cheming Lake into the river, flowing into the distance, carrying with it the hope that had been ignited after four years of waiting.
Mo Bei was pulled out of the water, and in his dazed state, he could only make out a fish face. The dragon found nothing and could only fly up dejectedly, its wings already soaked through.
