Chapter 55 Special Gift
Chapter 55 Special Gift
Lucas is truly famous.
He was practically surrounded by owls that day, and letters and gifts from all over Great Britain filled Room 7 of the Leaky Cauldron.
Lucas didn't even have time to open the mail. He went from being excited and enthusiastic at the beginning to becoming almost numb. He mechanically accepted the letters and packages, said thank you, and then gave the hardworking owl postman some snacks.
The owls finally stopped flying around as evening approached, allowing Lucas to prepare dinner.
As the sweet and tangy aroma filled the entire bar, the door to room "Number 6" upstairs finally opened. Hannah, who had been hiding all day, cautiously peeked out and heard Tonks downstairs shouting, "Ah! Is it ready? Let me have a piece first!"
Oh no! She's going to steal them all!
Hannah rushed down the stairs and saw Lucas carrying a large platter of amber-colored delicacies, flashing her a bright smile.
Ugh! Hannah blushed instantly, but her eyes were fixed on the glistening dish, making it impossible for her to move.
"Don't worry about Hannah. Everyone knows Skeeter's report is just made up. Nobody will believe it. In a few days, nobody will even remember who's who," Lucas said with a smile. "I received a lot of candy. I'll give it all to you in a bit. I also specially made this amber sweet and sour pork ribs. Come and have some."
What Hannah heard was: "Gibberish gibberish #¥@%……#……, Amber Sweet and Sour Pork Ribs, come and eat!"
The small, square spare ribs are evenly coated with a translucent sauce, giving them a warm, deep amber color. Piled together with the ribs are plump, round walnuts coated in a glistening sugar glaze. The sauce is also garnished with toasted white sesame seeds.
The sweet and sour aroma, mixed with the scent of nuts, is like countless tiny hands tickling one's taste buds, making one's mouth water.
With lightning speed, Tonks forked up a large piece of pork chop and put it in his mouth, squinting his eyes and letting out a blissful groan.
"Oh, Merlin... chewing... so delicious..." She forked another piece. "For the sake of this dish... chewing, chewing, I won't complain... whatever they say, I'm staying here anyway... chewing, chewing..."
Seeing that she hadn't even spat out the bone and was about to fork the third piece, Hannah finally couldn't resist, pulled out her fork, put the spare rib into her mouth, and let out a satisfied whimper.
The perfectly balanced sweet and sour sauce explodes on your tongue, rich and mellow without being cloying, and refreshingly tangy and appetizing. Then, the slightly crispy outer shell of the ribs cracks open, and with a gentle bite, the meat easily separates from the bone, releasing tender juices that blend with the sweet and sour sauce for unparalleled satisfaction.
"Try this, it tastes great with the ribs." Lucas pointed to an amber peach kernel.
Hannah nodded eagerly and popped another walnut into her mouth. With a soft "crunch," the caramel coating shattered, its crisp texture creating a wonderful contrast with the tender pork ribs. The unique nutty aroma of the walnut instantly elevated the flavor experience, leaving a lingering and unforgettable aftertaste.
good to eat!too delicious!
Hannah didn't even have time to speak. She quickly finished the piece in her mouth and then, without hesitation, reached for the next piece with her fork, expressing her praise through her actions. As for the Daily Prophet, or the embarrassing scandals... they were all forgotten in front of this plate of amber sweet and sour pork rib noodles.
Lucas watched as the two of them, cheeks puffed out, devoured the ribs on their plates in a whirlwind, and his smile grew even brighter.
For a chef, nothing is more blissful than seeing the genuine satisfaction on the faces of their guests.
Tom cheerfully brought over a plate of white bread, which was met with great enthusiasm. Lucas could only sigh again.
I'll definitely go buy rice when I have some free time!
Sweet and sour pork ribs must be served with rice!
......
In the evening, Tonks and Hannah, with their round bellies, helped Lucas open letters and gift packages.
Lucas also received a letter from Professor Sprout. The professor was very worried that he might have been injured in the Gringotts heist and told him to write back immediately if he felt unwell, and she would come to take Lucas to the Hogwarts Hospital.
Remembering Mrs. Pomfrey's warning when he said goodbye, Lucas gave a wry smile and quickly replied that he was fine.
The other letters contained a variety of messages, expressing praise, admiration, condolences, curiosity, and more. Several letters even argued that Skeeter's report was inaccurate and questioned whether Lucas's food photos were staged or fabricated.
"They should really have a taste!" Tonks said angrily. "If you give them just one piece, they'll swallow their tongues!"
Hannah let out a short scream and, her face flushed, threw a love letter from her older sister in front of Lucas.
"Tear them up! Tear them up!" Lucas declared righteously. "Not a single one of these letters will be kept. Am I that kind of person?"
Besides the letter, there were all sorts of gifts. Most of them were magical candies and snacks, which Lucas gave to Hannah and Tonks, keeping only one or two of each for himself.
To protect his keen sense of taste, Lucas avoids overly stimulating foods and rarely eats sugar or snacks; he keeps these for the initial exploration of magical cuisine.
For example, he ate a sizzling honey candy that made him float when he sucked on it, and a little pepper rascal that could breathe out magical flames that weren't hot after eating it.
Indeed, it's possible to cast spells on food, giving it special effects. But is there magic that can bring out the ultimate deliciousness of food, or give it a completely new flavor?
Lucas couldn't help but feel even more excited about the magical food.
Other gifts included quills, parchment, and various magic books. These letters all encouraged Lucas to study hard and bring honor to Muggle-born wizards.
These magic books were carefully selected, and were perfect for Lucas, a young wizard who had just embarked on his wizarding journey. Lucas was especially grateful for this.
Other gifts included toys from the magical world, such as wizard chess, explosive cards, and Goblin stones.
These were all sent by kind wizards who treated Lucas like an ordinary child.
Lucas received so many letters and gifts that he couldn't possibly reply to them all. He could only pick some to reply to, including the one that contained only one sentence and was sent by a girl named "Luna Lovegood".
Afterwards, he packed away all his school supplies and magic books, and then played Wizard's Chess, Explosion, and Goblin with Tonks and Hannah, experiencing the fun of being a wizard's child amidst the noise and commotion.
By the time everyone had had their fill of fun and returned to their rooms exhausted, it was already late at night.
Lucas slept soundly through the night and woke up refreshed the next day. As he went downstairs to have breakfast, he suddenly saw a figure walk in.
She is Sandy, a clerk at the Magical Pets Shop.
"Hey, Lucas," Sandy greeted, holding up the cage in her hand. "Someone gave it to you."
Pepper, with her satin-like, jet-black feathers, shouted, "Morning, motherfucker!"
