Chapter 15 Igni Sign
Chapter 15 Igni Sign
Suddenly, a creaking sound came from the container that had been smashed by the mercenary's body.
At this moment, the others also realized something was wrong, and Zhan Lan exclaimed in surprise, "How is this possible? The power supply is clearly..."
Zhan Lan suddenly fell silent, because she noticed that the green indicator light on the container that had been making the strange noise had turned red at some point.
"Bang, bang, bang..."
At this moment, loud noises began to emanate from inside the container, accompanied by the outward bulging of the container's iron door, as if a giant beast inside was about to break through its cage and break free.
The mercenaries closest to the container cautiously faced it and quickly retreated.
At this point, the mercenaries no longer cared about Zheng Zha and his men pointing guns at them from behind.
Sometimes, the unknown is what's most frightening.
"Fuck, what kind of monster is in here?"
Kaplan retreated while cursing angrily.
The next second, the large iron door of the container flew out instantly, and then a terrifying-looking monster was exposed to everyone's view.
"Oh my God, what the hell is this?"
Kaplan was so frightened that his pupils dilated instantly, his retreating steps slowed abruptly, and his breathing unconsciously became shallower, as if he was afraid of attracting the monster's attention.
Zhan Lan was so frightened that she briefly stopped breathing. She didn't realize it when she watched the movie, but when the Licker appeared in real life, the visual impact was truly indescribable.
The licker was on all fours, its skull seemingly half-melted, with half of its brain exposed, and several thin tubes inserted into it, giving it a grayish-white appearance.
The skin all over his body had basically rotted away, leaving only a few specks clinging to the flesh, with the dark red muscle fibers directly exposed to the air.
Its face has no lips, only two rows of serrated teeth, a long tongue hanging out of its mouth, with mucus dripping down its tongue, and its limbs twisted, with its hands and feet turned into claws.
Kaplan wasn't the only mercenary terrified; the other mercenaries weren't much better off.
But by sheer coincidence, the computer on Kaplan's arm suddenly started beeping an alarm.
"Oh, shit!"
Kaplan cursed under his breath in despair.
The next second, the Licker suddenly aimed at Kaplan and shot out its tongue, which instantly wrapped around Kaplan's waist like a retractable rubber band.
Immediately afterwards, Kaplan was pulled over by a long, sticky tongue, just like a worm caught by a frog.
Rain reacted quickly and grabbed Kaplan's arm, but the Licker's strength was too great, and he dragged Rain to the ground.
Then, along with Rain, they continued to drag themselves towards him.
Just then, Geralt rushed forward, his steel sword aimed at the Licker's tongue, and slashed down, severing the dark red tongue in two.
The Licker let out a painful roar and then lunged at Geralt.
At the same time, Geralt heard the emotionless voice of the Supreme God Nasen: "Rescue the mercenary Kaplan, reward: 1 C-rank side quest, 2000 points."
However, Geralt couldn't care less about the main god, because the Licker had already pounced on him. Geralt simply did a smooth side roll and easily dodged the Licker's bite.
Before the Licker could make a further move, Geralt had already stood up, a fierce glint in his eyes. He then swiftly extended his left hand and aimed it at the Licker in front of him, releasing the Igni sign.
A torrent of flames erupted from Geralt's palm, three consecutive orange-red pillars of flame instantly engulfing the Licker in flames.
Orange-red flames instantly climbed onto the licker's exposed muscles and mucus, emitting a sizzling burning sound.
The Licker writhed on the ground in agony. Geralt didn't approach rashly, but instead quickly drew his crossbow and aimed it at the Licker's head.
Geralt then fired two crossbow bolts in quick succession, one shattering the Licker's exposed gray-white brain, and the other piercing its neck.
The Licker, which had been struggling and rolling on the ground, became motionless, like a black, unidentified object, emitting a foul smell of burnt meat fat.
The next second, Geralt heard the notification from the main god again: "Kill one Licker, reward 100 points."
Only then did Geralt realize that he had killed the disgusting monster.
"It's dead, let's get out of here quickly."
Geralt shouted to the crowd.
Seeing this, Zheng Zha and the others dared to approach. Li Xiaoyi looked at Geralt with shining eyes and said:
"Brother Geralt, you're amazing! Do you get 100 reward points now?"
Alice, who had gathered around, asked with some confusion, "What reward points!"
Li Xiaoyi, who had been in high spirits, suddenly turned extremely ugly and did not say a word.
Seeing this, Alice stopped asking questions. It was just a casual question, and she had no interest in this ordinary-looking boy.
Zheng Zha and the others looked at Li Xiaoyi with sympathy, clearly knowing why Li Xiaoyi had performed the face-changing act.
At that moment, Kaplan stepped forward and sincerely said, "Thank you for saving me!"
The other mercenaries no longer looked at Geralt and his companions with the same wariness and distance as before; their gazes became much more friendly.
Matthew walked over to a charred mass of Lickers, examined it for a moment, and asked with some disgust:
"FUCK, what kind of monster is this? What is the company doing?"
At this point, Matthew looked at the remaining containers, which were so numerous that he couldn't see them all at a glance, and felt a chill run down his spine.
Geralt ignored Kaplan's thanks, simply nodded, and then looked at Matthew, saying:
"Now it's your choice: continue in separate teams, or move forward together!"
Before Matthew could speak, JD declared, "I definitely won't stay here with so many monsters."
Rain also echoed this sentiment:
"Me too!"
At this moment, Matthew's dark complexion seemed somewhat embarrassed, but due to his skin tone, it wasn't very noticeable.
Matthew glared at JD and Rain, but didn't say anything. Then he looked at Geralt and asked:
"Who exactly are you?"
"Your identities are definitely not just as simple as security personnel!"
At this moment, Zhan Lan couldn't help but roll her eyes at Matthew and say:
"Captain Matthew, what time is it? Still worrying about identity issues? Don't you think there's something wrong with your mission?"
"And were you informed about the monsters here before you went on the mission?"
