Chapter 10 The Hogwarts Express
Chapter 10 The Hogwarts Express
Thick smoke billowed from the steam locomotive, swirling above the platform. The crowded people were noisy and boisterous, interspersed with the hooting of owls, while cats of various colors flitted around their feet.
Guoguocha squatted on Vaughn's suitcase, glancing at the backs of its kind, quiet and composed.
Harry was gone; there were people all around. The reckless fellow had vanished somewhere. Vaughn didn't look for him specifically, but after tiptoeing around for a while, he finally spotted Fred and George, then squeezed through the crowd and asked:
"Why are you the only ones here? Where are the Percy?"
"I didn't see him. His Excellency Percy was very busy. He disappeared in the blink of an eye."
"Huh? Fred, when did Percy become a prefect? How come I didn't know?"
"You couldn't possibly not know, George, he said it at least once... no, twice... no!"
The twins shouted in unison, "They've been talking about it all summer! Hahaha—"
Then, Percy appeared, dressed in a new robe somewhere, his face stern: "If I were you, Fred and George, knowing my brother had become a prefect, I would have toned it down and not made things difficult for him!"
"Merlin's beard, Fred, I'm so scared!"
"Yeah, George, it's terrifying! He talks like he's the principal!"
"You guys..." Percy took a deep breath, finally deciding to ignore them. He patted Vaughn on the shoulder, dramatically shaking his new robe to make sure Vaughn could see the P badge pinned to his chest: "Vaughn, my dear brother, if you have any problems after you get to school, remember to come to me!"
Vaughn nodded with a smile: "Okay, Percy."
Just then, the Weasleys arrived with Ginny and Ron. It was almost 11 o'clock, and the white smoke from the steam locomotive grew thicker—it was about to depart, and Molly had to say goodbye to the children one by one.
When she got to Vaughn and Ron, she wiped her eyes emotionally, wishing she could hold them in her arms and never let go: "You've never been so far from home before."
"Don't worry, Mom, we're going to school, and Hogwarts is the safest place in the world..." Vaughn reassured her against her will, secretly adding in her mind—
That might not be the case in the future!
"After we get to school, we'll write to you and your dad, and of course, to Ginny too."
After comforting his mother, Vaughn hugged Ginny again. The little girl was already crying her eyes out, clutching his clothes tightly.
"Vaughn, I don't want you to leave..."
"But my brother has to go to school, and Ginny will be coming to Hogwarts next year, so we won't be separated then."
It took a while to finally calm her down. During this time, Ron didn't say a word because he was also crying with snot running down his face.
As the Weasleys and Ginny waved goodbye, Vaughn and Ron pushed their piles of suitcases onto the train, searching for a carriage with empty seats.
You definitely can't go to the front of the train; that's for upperclassmen only. Percy had previously boasted that he had a prefect's private compartment at the front of the train.
So the two of them could only search at the back of the car.
After finally finding an empty compartment, the train sounded a long whistle and started moving. Ron dropped his luggage and rushed to the window, pressing his face against it, as if he wanted to see his parents seeing him off one last time.
But he saw nothing.
Thick smoke obscured the platform, revealing only waving arms, while the boy huddled dejectedly in his seat.
Vaughn took out his wand and cast a levitation charm to secure their luggage.
Seeing his expression, I thought for a moment and took out a piece of candy from my pocket.
"Give!"
Ron hesitated for a moment, then took it, unwrapping the candy as he mumbled, "Th...thank you, Vaughn..."
"Call me brother!"
Vaughn ruffled his hair rudely, instantly extinguishing any lingering emotion he had felt.
His face flushed red, and he flailed his arms and legs trying to break free from Vaughn's grasp, yelling, "You won't get away with this—"
Just then, the cubicle door opened, and a thin figure dragging a large suitcase stood timidly and blankly outside: "Excuse me... may I sit here?"
Harry Potter felt that today was absolutely terrible.
First, my aunt and uncle left me at the station, but I couldn't find Platform 9¾.
I finally met a kind lady and managed to get onto the platform. In a daze, I squeezed through the crowd for a long time before finally managing to get on the train, but then I couldn't find my carriage.
He initially went to the car in front, but was kicked out by an older student wearing a snake badge on his chest.
He walked all the way to the back of the train, and almost every compartment was full. After wandering around for a long time, he still couldn't find a seat. Then, he saw two red-haired boys.
He knew them.
It was the kind family that had helped him outside the platform before. Their bright red hair was so eye-catching, especially the tall boy named Vaughn with reddish-brown, jewel-like eyes. He was the most handsome boy Harry had ever seen, even more handsome than Aunt Petunia's favorite male celebrity.
Of course, what impressed Harry the most was the scene when he first arrived, where he saw Vaughn wave his wand and make the luggage float.
magic……
Harry didn't know what had gotten into him; he impulsively pushed open the door, but after asking the question, he wanted to back out.
What if I'm a complete stranger and suddenly appear in front of two brothers? What if they don't like being disturbed? What if they kick me out?
His mind was a jumble of thoughts. Growing up in the Dursleys, he had become accustomed to being cautious and compromising.
Inside the carriage, Vaughn was also somewhat surprised.
He hadn't seen Harry Potter before, and assumed that the other person had already found a cubicle.
He couldn't help but look at Harry, then at Ron.
There is indeed such a thing as destiny in the magical world, and that is also part of magic. Could it be that the Iron Triangle is destined to meet?
After a moment's thought, Vaughn, realizing he couldn't quite figure out the problem for the time being, smiled calmly at Harry and said, "Of course, please come in."
Harry thanked him somewhat awkwardly, turned to pull his suitcase, and then he heard a spell:
"Wingardium Leviosa"
His luggage suddenly floated up, then was lifted into the air by a mysterious force.
Hedwig frantically flapped her wings in the cage, but it was all in vain.
Harry turned around in a panic and saw Vaughn holding a wand with protruding knuckles, directing his suitcase to fly onto the shelf, while Hedwig's birdcage landed on the small table by the window.
There's also a huge cat there.
It glanced at Hedwig, then continued to stare at the rat in the corner cage.
"Uh, uh..." Harry was so dazed that he could barely speak. After a while, he stammered, "Thank you, thank you."
"You're welcome, come in and have a seat!" Vaughn said with a smile. "My name is Vaughn Weasley, and this is my brother, Ron Weasley. Hello, Harry Potter."
Harry, hunched over as he entered the cubicle, immediately responded awkwardly, "Hello, Vaughn... uh?" His eyes widened. "How did you know...?"
Vaughn pointed to his forehead. "I saw your scar when we were outside the platform."
It wasn't because of magic after all...
Harry breathed a sigh of relief and was about to answer when he saw a freckled boy named Ron Weasley practically leap up and stare at his forehead.
"Harry Potter?! That Harry Potter?"
