Chapter 208 Extra: Harry and Draco's Everyday Life
Chapter 208 Extra: Harry and Draco's Everyday Life
It's graduation season again, and Harry and Draco have finally graduated. Harry is pursuing his dream of becoming an Auror, while Draco is taking over Lucius's job. For the first few days, the two were so busy that they went home and fell asleep immediately, with absolutely no free time.
"Draco, I'm off this week, what about you?" Harry was unusually lucid, lying on the bed chatting with Draco in his arms, while his lover in his arms was already dozing off.
Draco, with his eyes closed, managed to open his mouth and answer, "I don't know, Dad didn't say." His rest time depended entirely on Lucius's arrangements, and the large amount of work was almost overwhelming him.
"What do you want to eat tomorrow? I'll bother Ellie and ask him to make it." Harry knew he had no talent for cooking, so he could only ask Ellie for help. Being criticized a few times in exchange for a few good meals was not a loss at all.
"I don't know, I'm so sleepy..." Draco fell asleep before he could finish speaking. He had obviously used up too much energy during the day and no longer had the energy to think or speak.
The next day
Harry always woke up earlier than Draco, since their work schedules were different. Today, being a rare day off, he closed the curtains a crack, held the person in his arms tightly, and continued to sleep.
"Knock knock knock".
"Little Dragon, wake up. Do you remember? There's a banquet at noon today." Lucius stood at the door and knocked gently. Since Draco started school, he wouldn't casually enter or leave the children's rooms, let alone now that Harry was in there.
"Hmm..." Draco opened his eyes, blinked while staring at the ceiling, and his mind finally started working. "I know, Dad, I'll be right there." He removed the hand from his waist and got off the bed.
His formal attire for the banquet was hanging outside the wardrobe, and his accessories were on the table. He could leave as soon as he changed.
"Harry, you can keep sleeping. I won't be back until the afternoon." Before leaving, Draco told Harry to go find Emeric, as if he had a gift for them.
As pure-blood nobles, the Malfoy family always had to deal with a lot of social interactions at banquets. Draco, holding his wine glass, once again declined invitations from others. The strong perfume made him dizzy, and he could only take sips of wine every now and then to stay sober.
Fortunately, he had a decent alcohol tolerance and hadn't drunk much, so he only felt a little dizzy after the banquet. When he got home, he changed all his clothes, and the mixture of various smells was particularly unpleasant, not to mention the smell of alcohol.
"Draco, have some honey water," Harry said, placing the cup in Draco's hand with one hand and gently patting his back with the other. "I'll go talk to Uncle Lucius and ask him to give you a day off."
"No need. Dad told me to go out and play this afternoon. He's taught me enough. After that, I can just go to his study every morning to work on documents with him."
"That's good. Let's go to the amusement park tomorrow. Brother Ellie said there are many fun places in the Muggle world. He and Professor Snape just came back from playing there, and he gave us two tickets so we can go and have a look when we have time." Harry took out the things he received today and put them on the table.
"Sure, but it won't be until after 10 o'clock by the time I finish. Will that be enough time?" Draco asked after thinking for a moment, worried that he wouldn't have enough fun.
"It should be fine. Ellie said he and the professor went around noon, so it'll probably be close to 11 o'clock," Harry replied uncertainly. "It's okay, let's go check it out tomorrow, just in case it's not fun."
As he spoke, he gently pressed Draco's head to help relieve his dizziness. With the cool air, the slightly tipsy feeling quickly passed.
the other side
Lucius was glared at fiercely by Narcissa. Who told him to stand aside and watch Draco make a fool of himself instead of thinking about rescuing the child from the crowd?
"Sissy, you know I'm usually busy socializing at these kinds of parties, it's not like I didn't notice on purpose." Of course, he didn't dare mention that Narcissa was also busy chatting with other ladies and hadn't noticed Draco's situation.
Narcissa rolled her eyes, took the hangover soup from Lucius's plate, and prepared to give it to Harry as a snack. Since he could still argue, he certainly didn't need the soup. Draco didn't like the taste of the hangover soup, so she prepared a small portion of strawberries for him to eat slowly.
"Knock knock".
"Harry, how's Little Dragon?" Narcissa gently pushed open the door and went in, placing the tray she was carrying on the coffee table. She looked at the two people on the sofa with a worried expression.
Draco quickly reassured her, "Mom, I'm fine. I just smelled the perfume, I didn't drink too much." Of course, he still wanted to do something naughty, like tattling, "Several family members offered themselves to me today. They said I'm an adult and should think about the family."
"?" Narcissa took a deep breath. "I understand. You get some rest." She patted the two children's heads and walked out with a murderous aura. Compared to all that nonsense, Narcissa valued Draco's opinion more.
Back in Lucius's study, Narcissa had no time for beating around the bush. She sat down opposite him and said, "Someone went and talked nonsense in front of Little Dragon. You handle that."
"What's wrong?" Lucius asked, puzzled. He hadn't expected Narcissa to be so angry after delivering the items. He recalled the events at the banquet and couldn't remember anyone causing Draco any distress.
"Someone is trying to arrange a marriage for Xiaolong, saying he's grown up and should consider the family. Ha, they're so kind of them, making my child think about such things." Narcissa sneered, crossing her arms, ready to investigate who had the audacity to do this.
Lucius chuckled in exasperation, never expecting that his years of calm and composure would lead others to believe he was no longer capable. "I'll have a good talk with them," he said.
Soon, a diverse group of people arrived at the manor, all hurrying along and carrying numerous documents. Meanwhile, many families that favored arranged marriages suddenly found themselves short of funds.
"Looks like Lucius is really angry this time~" Emerick said with a look of amusement, handing the newspaper to Severus so he could join in the fun.
"What happened?"
"A while ago, I attended a banquet, the one you didn't want to go to. A few reckless people went to Draco and talked nonsense, trying to arrange a marriage between him and Malfoy." He pointed to an article in the newspaper. "Look, it's these families. I bet Lucius has more tricks up his sleeve. Poor thing."
Emeric, though pleading for their plight, was practically radiating schadenfreude, and even seemed intent on adding fuel to the fire. "As Draco and Harry's brother, it's my responsibility to help them solve their problems."
Severus rolled his eyes at these high-sounding words. Did he really not know Americus? If he were truly aware of this, he would have resolved the matter at the banquet; why wait for Lucius to intervene?
But he didn't say anything, just expressed particular disdain. After all, Emeric had spent all the money he made by swindling money on him. But speaking of which, "Don't you have a marriage partner?"
Severus was ready to pick a fight; he hadn't played a prank in a long time and the thought excited him. If Emerick said yes, he could yell at him; if he said no, he could yell at him for lying.
But the man didn't expect Emeric to turn the tables. "Severus, I should be asking you that. A successful Potions Master must have many suitors. Unlike me, I've been with someone since I was thirteen, and I haven't had a single scandal." He then put on a pitiful look, his eyes filled with disappointment.
"Stop playing the victim, go now."
