Chapter 52 Interrogation Room
Chapter 52 Interrogation Room
"What's wrong?"
Li Weize noticed Lin Chong's unusual behavior and turned around to ask.
Lin Chong didn't reply, looking down at the tips of his shoes, his brows furrowed in thought.
The number shown in the call log was indeed from the Shishan Police Station; the caller was not a scammer.
But why would Xiaoxi hit someone for no reason? What happened?
Lin Chong remembered that Xiao Xi had mentioned to him before he left in the morning that she had made plans to go shopping and have dinner with Xiao Yun in the afternoon... Could it be related to Xiao Yun?
He immediately called Xiaoxi, but no one answered.
At that moment, Li Weize walked to his side and asked again, "What's wrong? What happened?"
Lin Chong looked at him seriously: "The Shishan Police Station called me and said my sister hit someone."
Li Weize paused for a moment, then his expression turned serious: "Get in the car, I'll take you there."
Lin Chong followed Li Weize into a black Toyota. The latter was a very good driver, but Mudu Academy was some distance from Shishan Police Station.
After navigating several sharp turns and stabilizing the vehicle, Li Weize glanced at Lin Chong through the rearview mirror and asked, "What exactly happened?"
Lin Chong squinted as he watched the scenery outside the window flash by, and said in a deep voice, "I don't know, but my sister was with Zou Xiaoyun this afternoon, and I think it's related to her."
"Zou Xiaoyun?"
Li Weize's expression changed, and Lin Chong noticed this, immediately pressing, "How much do you know about her?"
Li Weize remained silent for two seconds before slowly speaking.
"Not many. I've only heard a few students talk about her, and the veracity of those stories is questionable."
"I heard she comes from a blended family. Her stepfather's personality changed drastically after his business went downhill; he drinks heavily every day and has a tendency to be abusive..."
"Several female students accidentally saw the bruises on Zou Xiaoyun's body in the gymnasium's locker room, and there was also a rumor that even in the hottest weather, she wore long sleeves and pants to cover up her injuries..."
Lin Chong's expression changed as he recalled that Xiao Yun had never worn short sleeves or shorts during this period of time.
He recalled the strange closeness that Xiaoxi showed when she saw Xiaoyun at the Morning Light Nursery. Lin Chong knew his younger sister's nature—although she was only 16 years old, she was much more mature than girls her age and had an exceptionally keen sense of observation, often able to see through Lin Chong's thoughts.
Through the original body's memories, Lin Chong knew what kind of hard life the brother and sister had lived before he came to this world. It seems that Xiao Xi saw the shadows of the two of them in Xiao Yun, which is why she gradually became close to Xiao Yun.

Shishan Police Station
Xiaoxi sat in the interrogation room chair. In front of her was a metal table, and opposite her were two people in uniform. One was flipping through a notebook, and the other was leaning back in his chair, twirling a pen in his hand.
"Name?"
"Lin Xiaoxi".
"age?"
"sixteen."
The person flipping through the notebook looked up at her: "Minor, where's your guardian?"
Before Xiaoxi could speak, the police officer twirling his pen replied first: "I've already called, they're on their way."
After saying that, he turned to look at Xiaoxi, his face expressionless, and said, "Tell me what happened. Why did you hit someone?"
Xiaoxi frowned: "I didn't start it. That person hit Sister Yun first; he pulled her hair..."
"Sister Yun?" The person taking notes looked up. "Who is that?"
Xiaoxi had just opened her mouth when she was interrupted by the pen-spinning policeman: "Zou Xiaoyun, Lao Zhao's daughter."
"Old Zhao? Which Old Zhao?"
Xiaoxi watched as the two whispered to each other with their faces close together, and she vaguely heard the words "uncle" and "bureau chief".
After a few seconds, the police officer seemed to understand something, turned to look at her, and spoke in a very calm tone.
"So, the victim, Zhao Zhiguang, is Zou Xiaoyun's stepfather. This is a family dispute. Why are you, an outsider, meddling in other people's family matters?"
Victim?
Xiaoxi vaguely felt that the adjective was wrong, but she didn't realize it at first and subconsciously replied, "We were eating at a restaurant when he suddenly came out, splashed Sister Yun's soup, and pulled her hair!"
Deng Deng Deng!
The policeman slammed his pen against the table with a loud thud, frowning as he scolded, "Answer what I ask you, don't ramble on!"
"I'm asking you now, the slap mark on the victim's face was left by your hand, right? And you were the one who struck first."
Xiaoxi remained silent for a while, then answered softly, "Yes." Immediately afterward, she raised her voice and retorted, "I didn't start it, he did—"
"What did he do first? Did he hit you? Before you hit him, did he touch you?" Before she could finish speaking, the police officer interrupted her sharply.
Xiaoxi fell silent. Before she rushed forward, Zhao Zhiguang didn't touch her; he only hit Xiaoyun, not her.
She opened her mouth to say, "He hit Sister Yun first," but the policeman had already written something in his notebook, as if what she wanted to say was not worth mentioning at all.
At that moment, the door to the interrogation room was pushed open.
Another policeman poked his head in, holding a document, and said to the officer spinning the pen.
"Old Liu, the preliminary results of the injury assessment are in. The victim has a penetrating forearm injury and a head injury from an impact. It is recommended that the case be filed as a minor injury."
Officer Liu took the document, glanced at it, and made an ambiguous "hmm" sound.
Xiaoxi couldn't help but speak up: "That was done by Sister Yun's spirit! Because he spilled Sister Yun's soup and pushed me down, Sister Yun was very angry, so..."
"Pushed her down?" Officer Liu squinted at her. "Didn't you just say that the victim hadn't touched you before you made your move?"
Xiaoxi protested, "That was before! Later, he pushed me, and I fell on the steps and hit my head..."
"So it was a fight between them."
Officer Liu suddenly closed the file: "If it's a fight, both sides are responsible."
Xiaoxi didn't quite understand. How could a high school student like her understand these intricacies?
Officer Liu explained to her, "You hit him, and he hit you. That's called mutual fighting! In mutual fighting, whoever is more seriously injured is the victim. Zhao Zhiguang has a perforated arm and a head injury, which are minor injuries."
"You have a minor scrape on your forehead, a slight injury. From a legal perspective, you are the one who caused the harm."
Xiaoxi sat blankly in the chair, feeling as if she had fallen into a spider web—she could understand every word this person said, but when put together, it formed something completely unrelated to her memory.
She wanted to say that wasn't the case, that she rushed up because the man was hitting Sister Yun, but Sister Yun didn't dare to fight back because if she didn't rush up, no one would help her.
But her lips moved, and she ultimately didn't speak. She knew that every word she said would be recorded in that little notebook, but the final facts would be completely different from the truth. She didn't know what was going on, but Xiaoxi knew that she couldn't say anything more.
Just as Xiaoxi was forcing herself not to cry, she heard footsteps coming from outside the corridor.
Officer Liu turned his head and glanced at the scene, saying, "Your brother has arrived. Perfect timing, you two can discuss compensation with the victim right away."
His tone was casual, as if he knew that even if Lin Chong came, it wouldn't change anything.
