Mark glanced at the chair, but there was no longing in his eyes for it.
Mark looked at Jingyuan, but Jingyuan showed no desire for the chair.
Two people who had no desire for power have now found themselves at the pinnacle of power in the beacon of authority.
"You've always wanted me to take this position, but what about yourself? Don't you want to be in it?"
"We both know in our hearts that whether or not we sit in this position is not important. What is important is who can lead humanity into the future!"
Why do you believe I can lead everyone into the future?
Mark himself wasn't confident about this.
"I have seen the future!"
Jingyuan's words puzzled Mark.
Do you want to know what I see in the future?
Mark's expression was very complicated.
If it were yesterday, he probably wouldn't believe it.
But when he saw Jingyuan's incredible superpowers, he decided to listen to what Jingyuan saw about the "future"!
Mark nodded.
Jing Yuan walked slowly through the hall, saying as he went, "Ever since Morgan announced your succession as city lord, Charles has harbored murderous intentions towards you. He knows about the relationship between you and Ran Bing, which is why he arranged for Ran Bing to carry out the Dawn Hall mission."
For Ran Bing's sake, you stormed into the Dawn Hall and injured dozens of priests.
Seng was waiting for you outside the Dawn Hall long ago and arrested you in public.
Charles went to Morgan's room and personally told Morgan about your intrusion into the hall, and also tampered with Morgan's medicine.
In the command center, you confessed to your crimes without reservation. You just couldn't understand why, when we had so many more options, we had to adhere to the three cruel laws.
Morgan was so angry that he fainted in front of everyone.
You stepped forward to get medicine for Morgan.
But what you don't know is that all of this was actually arranged by Charles.
You and your hunter team went to the ecological zone, where you encountered the Calyx Beast.
The team members who remained in the hall, including Gao Ge and Fang Ning, were all eaten by the Flower Calyx Beast and turned into flesh and dirt.
Xuefeng was killed by the Flower Calyx Beast with a single blow, and Haji was killed by the Spiked Eel with bone spikes. Even in death, they regretted not protecting Hongkou, and thus vowed to protect her no matter what.
Finally, you cover your teammates' retreat, leaving yourself to fight the Flower Calyx Beast alone.
You finally defeated the Calyx Beast, but you were also severely injured and exhausted, unable to move.
At this moment, Dustman 4068 found you. You thought he had come to rescue you and even praised him for having the potential to be a hunter.
However, he slashed your throat with a bone spur!
By the time Mo Cheng and his men found you, you had already lost too much blood and were on the verge of death!
As Mark listened to Jingyuan's story, he imagined these scenes unfolding before his eyes.
"You mean 4068 killed me!"
“Yes. But the story isn’t over yet.” Jing Yuan sighed and said, “I saw these things, so I changed everything. Now that you’re not dead, none of the rest will happen.”
Jingyuan paused for a moment, then asked, "Do you want to know what happened next?"
Mark looked at Jing Yuan and asked, "So, did I die in the end, or did I survive?"
"Life is worse than death!"
When Mark heard those four words, it felt as if he had been struck by lightning.
"You were taken back to the lighthouse by the team members. Although you still have vital signs, you have been parasitized by the spinal worm!"
You were taken back to the research institute by Dr. Carrie. She proposed replacing your spine with a spinal worm to save your life!
"A spinal worm replacing the spine? What could that be?"
“You…” Jing Yuan stared at Mark, “and in the end, you became a Devouring Beast!”
Chapter 109 Author's Remarks
First of all, I would like to thank everyone for supporting my book.
My book performed poorly and has never been published.
However, everyone's comments and follow-up reading are a great support for me, a newbie who has only entered the signing stage after many years.
I've read all the comments, but I rarely reply. Some readers pointed out logical problems, which I quietly corrected myself.
The reason I started writing this book is that after Ling Cage 2 was updated, I went back to rewatch Ling Cage 1 and had a strong urge to complain!
At the time, I was choosing a fan fiction theme to write a novel, so I decided to try out Ling Cage.
When watching Ling Cage 1, the character I disliked the most was Charles, especially after Mark stormed into the Dawn Hall and made those sarcastic remarks in front of everyone.
It makes me angry every time I see it.
Therefore, the original version of my book started with Ran Bing's Dawn Hall mission, directly confronting Charles at the beginning.
Later, I realized that simply criticizing him wasn't enough to vent my anger. So I decided to defeat Charles in his area of expertise, to defeat him when he was at his most triumphant, and that would be the only way to truly vent my anger.
Therefore, many preparations were made to counter Charles.
The protagonist's being recruited and rewarded with a trip to the Hall of Dawn is all for the purpose of later using the tactic of "engaging in a power-for-sex deal" to retaliate against Charles when Ran Bing goes to the Hall of Dawn.
Therefore, the protagonist's strength was suppressed in the early stages, making him roughly equal to Mark.
I originally planned to kill him off before episode 11 of season 2 was released, during Charles's coup attempt.
Episode 11 attempts to whitewash Charles, making him seem like a heroic figure who resolutely sacrificed himself to protect the lighthouse. The plot truly disgusted me.
However, it also made me realize that there is still something to explore in the character of Charles.
I think writing these things down might be more interesting than killing him.
Before this, I never imagined that the Lord of Light and Shadow would enter his body.
As I wrote earlier, Charles doesn't believe in the Lord of Light and Shadow. This is based on my deduction from his words and actions in the first season. He knows very well that God is merely a means for him to control people's hearts.
But after this plot point came out in the second season, I couldn't very well let Charles die.
When killing him, what did the Lord of Light and Shadow do?
That's why Charles is alive in this novel.
I don't want to whitewash Charles, but I haven't figured out how to get him killed off either.
Although you can write fanfiction however you like, I still want to write it based on the characters' personalities from the original work.
Therefore, Charles is still a ruthless and unscrupulous person, and jealousy will overcome other emotions.
Mark is a kind and honest boy.
Penny is a hopeless romantic.
What about the protagonist Jingyuan that I designed? The overall look is a bit awkward.
I wanted his personality to align with the values promoted by Ling Cage. The core concept of the Ling Cage world is cooperation and mutual benefit! That's the message conveyed in the opening line of each episode.
However, whether in novels or in real life, keeping certain scourges around is like digging your own grave.
I arranged for the protagonist to unite the forces that could be united, and even tried to persuade Charles, and the fact that Charles is still alive is to express this point of view.
So now, I originally wanted to portray the protagonist as decisive and ruthless, but he's actually become a bit of a saint.
From this chapter onwards, the storyline departs from the first season. Because Mark's death has been altered, the later chapters will not follow the original timeline and events as they did in the first hundred chapters.
But I'll still borrow some content; the rest I'll just make up.
I've said so much without realizing it, and finally I want to thank everyone for their support.
This is my first book signed on Qidian. My writing skills are lacking, the pacing is not very good, and there may not be enough exciting moments.
Regardless of the outcome, I will definitely give it a proper conclusion.
I can't guess what kind of ending Yi Hua Dao Tian will give. I can only try my best to design an ending that is logically consistent with the existing plot of the original work from my perspective.
Bow!
Chapter 110 You are the key
Mark was stunned into numbness. How could a person turn into a Devouring Beast?
Jingyuan didn't stop answering Mark's questions, but continued to describe his "foreseen future".
"After you transformed into a Devouring Beast, you became an experimental subject for Dr. Carrie's research. Dr. Carrie's research on you was still at the observation stage. But the city defense forces used you, now a Devouring Beast, to vent their anger!"
They blinded you with bullets, and fired at you with all sorts of firearms!
Whenever Jingyuan recalls this scene, he feels no goodwill towards the city defense army.
In the battle just now, Jingyuan originally intended to wipe out the city defense army, but he didn't expect them to be the most spineless and the first to surrender, so Jingyuan couldn't bring himself to do it.
