Warhammer: Become a Saint Starting with the Banner of Souls

Chapter 18 The Indestructible "Friendly Forces"

Chapter 18 The Indestructible "Friendly Forces"

No one answered him.

Both Whisperer and Alpha remained in that eerie silence, motionless.

The adjutant's brow furrowed even more.

His hand had unconsciously tightened around the hilt of the chainsaw sword at his waist. In a chaotic world, when your "allies" don't answer your questions, it usually means things are about to get very bad.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the battlefield...

In the temporary command post of the Space Wolf Iron Wolf in Dalian, Wolf Lord Jill Iron Wolf witnessed this scene through an observation window that had been shattered by artillery fire.

"Damn it," he growled in a low voice.

Another Chaos reinforcement has arrived, and judging from their paint scheme, they are a mixed force of Whisperers and Alpha Legion.

This is definitely not good news for Dalian, the "Iron Wolf" team, which was already planning to retreat.

Ahead lay a massive force of Iron Warriors and the traitorous Titan Legion, while on the flank emerged an unspecified number of Word Bearers and the Alpha Legion…

If the enemy flanks them and cuts off their retreat, then the Iron Wolf Dalian team will truly be doomed.

"Attention all units, new enemy reinforcements have appeared on the flank." Jill suppressed her anger and issued the order via the battlecruiser's communications channel.

"Accelerate the retreat, rearguard cover—"

His order was interrupted by the scene before him.

Because he saw the group of Word Bearers and the Alpha Legion open fire.

But not by firing at the space wolf.

Instead, they are moving towards becoming steel warriors.

Qin Mo's words were very simple, consisting of only four words.

"Destroy them."

In an instant, all forty-seven undead power armors moved simultaneously.

Their movements are synchronized, precise, and efficient.

At the same moment, the explosive guns were raised, aimed, and fired, unleashing a barrage of bullets directly onto the nearest group of steel warriors.

The adjutant who was still questioning Qin Mo's identity was the first to fall.

The adjutant didn't even have time to utter a cry of alarm before he collapsed onto the scorched earth.

Then, more steel warriors fell.

The initial salvo had a devastating effect, not because of the intensity of the firepower, but because no one expected their "friendly forces" to suddenly turn against them.

While friction and conflict between chapters occur from time to time within the Chaos faction, it is rare, even in the world of Chaos, for someone to suddenly switch sides without warning on the battlefield and in the face of a common enemy.

The Iron Warriors were caught off guard.

Most of the dozen or so steel warriors on the flank defense fell in the first volley of fire, while the rest were stunned for a fraction of a second by the sudden turn of events. For ordinary people, a fraction of a second is insignificant.

But in Space Marine combat, a fraction of a second of hesitation can be enough to decide life or death.

However, the Iron Warrior is still the Iron Warrior.

They are veterans forged in ten thousand years of betrayal and war, and in terms of psychological qualities and on-the-spot reactions, they are among the top in all the Chaos Chapters.

The initial shock lasted less than a second before the surviving steel warrior had already completed the psychological shift from confusion to counterattack.

"Traitor!" roared a steel warrior.

It is quite ironic that this word came from the mouth of a Chaos Space Marine who was himself a traitor.

He raised his heavy bomb gun and fired a burst at the nearest Word Bearer undead power armor.

The bomb hit the target's faceplate precisely.

The terracotta armor shattered upon impact with the explosion of the warhead, revealing its internal components.

The steel warrior's hand involuntarily paused for a moment.

Because what's revealed behind the visor isn't a face made of flesh and blood.

Instead, it was a swirling, flowing black mist.

The outline of a human skull could be vaguely seen in the black mist, but two black ghost flames burned in the eye sockets of the skull, and its mouth was wide open, emitting a silent howl.

The shattered visor fragments floated in mid-air, entangled and enveloped by black mist, and then reformed within two or three seconds, the visor perfectly reattached to the power armor as if the attack had never happened.

Iron Warrior: "..."

This isn't right.

This is very wrong.

The fighting on the battlefield continued, and more steel warriors joined the counterattack, unleashing a barrage of fire from various weapons onto the forty-seven power armor suits.

The barrage of bullets sent sparks flying across their surfaces, and occasionally a few precise shots struck the weakest points at the joints, severing an arm or a leg.

But what happened next sent a chill down the spines of every steel warrior who participated in the battle.

The broken limbs did not fall to the ground.

Thick black mist surged from the broken ends, like countless tentacles, wrapping around the severed limbs and dragging them back to their original positions.

The bones reassembled, and the muscles regrowed.

The entire process takes no more than five seconds.

Five seconds later, the destroyed undead power armors stood up as if they were completely unharmed and continued firing.

A steel warrior fired a shot at the torso of an undead power armor user using a molten lava gun, a heavy close-range weapon capable of melting almost any substance.

The high-temperature molten ray instantly distorted the air and accurately struck the chests of the three Word Bearer puppets.

Under temperatures of several thousand degrees, even the sturdy terracotta armor and the layer of black yin energy could not completely withstand it. Half of the three puppets' bodies were instantly melted into boiling molten iron, and their broken limbs crashed into the trench with a thud, shattering into pieces.

But just ten seconds later—

The fragments were drawn back together by the black mist.

The melted terracotta steel reversed its liquid state and solidified back into a solid state. The shattered bones and organs were completely replaced by black mist, no longer disguised as flesh and blood, but directly filling the inside of the power armor as a humanoid black mist.

The power armor stood up again, its chest still steaming with the residual vapor from the molten jet, but its movements were unaffected as it raised its explosive gun and continued firing.

"Unkillable..." a steel warrior murmured.

Their extensive battlefield experience told them that this was neither a blessing of chaos nor demonic possession.

This was a power they had never seen before.

A bizarre ability that can infinitely repair any damage, beyond their comprehension.

These Word Bearers and Alpha Legion warriors are not living people at all.

They are inanimate objects.

They are walking corpses manipulated by some unknown force.

And the one who manipulated all of this—

All the steel warriors' eyes converged on the human standing in the center of the battlefield.

With his hands behind his back and the banner pole of the Ten Thousand Souls Banner leaning casually on his shoulder, Qin Mo stood leisurely in the center of the battlefield amidst the hail of bullets.

Occasionally, stray bullets would fly towards him, but they would be deflected by a spiritual energy shield that was almost invisible to the naked eye when they were more than three feet away from him, without even touching the hem of his clothes.

"It's him."

An elite warrior, who temporarily assumed command after his adjutant was killed, made a judgment.

"That human is controlling these puppets. Concentrate your firepower and kill him first!"
