"Oh? Hayley, so you’ve got some kind of plan?" Charlotte Hart immediately pressed her, "I knew it, how could you possibly swallow an insult and not fight back, that’s just not who you are.""I thought your dad scared you so badly you wouldn’t dare do anything anymore."
Charlotte Hart’s words made Hayley Cole’s expression change several times. She snorted and said, "I’ve never cared about being his daughter. If he cuts ties with me, I’d be more than happy."
"Him? He wouldn’t dare." Hayley Cole forced herself to save face and said, "If he really wanted to cut ties with me, why is he only saying it? If he’s got the guts, let him go file a lawsuit in court. Legally cut me off for real!"
"Just saying a couple of words outside, what the hell is the use of that? He really thinks I like being one of the Cole Family?" Hayley Cole lifted her chin high, showing her contempt for the Cole Family.
No matter how panicked she’d been when she was teaching Daisy Lewis a lesson and suddenly ran into Frederick Cole, that was something only she knew. Out in public, this face, she absolutely would not lose.
"Exactly." Charlotte Hart immediately chimed in, "It’s their family clinging to you. Hayley is the one who can’t be bothered to be part of their family."
"That’s right, exactly!" Hayley Cole nodded hard and said, "Forget it, let’s not talk about them. I’ll hurry up and finish shopping and go home. If James is home and doesn’t see me, he’ll get worried."
"Okay." Charlotte Hart smiled, helping Hayley Cole push the cart while flattering her, "You two really have such a great relationship."
"Of course, James is totally stuck to me." Hayley Cole lifted her head proudly and went to pay and leave.
"Take it easy on the way." Charlotte Hart waved at Hayley Cole’s back. Only after she disappeared from sight did she let out a cold snort, spit in disdain, and curse, "What a piece of crap."
With a stepdaughter like that, there’s no way Frederick Cole is going to have a peaceful life.
"James, James!" When Hayley Cole got home, she ran straight into James Reed’s room with the bags in her hands. "I bought your favorite food."
"Hayley, can you let me be quiet for a bit?" James Reed asked Hayley Cole wearily.
Hayley Cole, who’d been all excited a second ago, felt like someone had poured a bucket of cold water over her head right in front of her. In an instant, she was chilled to the bone.

The huge gap was something Hayley Cole was already having trouble adjusting to, and now James actually treated her like this. "Hayley, what’s going on?" Charlotte Reed hurried in and quickly stepped between the two of them. "James, are you bullying her?"
"Mom, look at James. I bought him food. Fine if he won’t eat it, but he even says I’m annoying!" Hayley Cole burst into tears in grievance. "What does he mean by that?"
"Hayley, come, let Mom talk to you. Let’s just ignore him, okay?" Charlotte Reed quickly coaxed Hayley Cole out and took her to Hayley Cole’s room.
"Hayley, don’t cry, don’t cry." Charlotte Reed took a tissue to wipe Hayley Cole’s tears, saying with heartache, "James has been having a really hard time lately. He’s worried sick."
